Single Rider and Rider Switch interaction

Scenario...
A party of my wife, a tall 3 year old, a 5 month old, and me. For rides with single rider lines and rider switch available (like test track).

Can we.
A) get rider switch for my wife
B) I ride single rider while I leave my wife with both kids
C) She and my tall toddler use rider switch (entering through the LL queue). Once I get back

I know for rider switch, if everyone wants to use the LL, everyone has to have a LL for the ride... but I'm not going through the LL.

Rider switch means one person stays out with one person. One person going into the line while the entire group waits outside is not rider switch. Your son should be entering the line with you: since he is three you must supervise him so no matter how loosely the phrase "single rider line" is interpreted he must not be with you in the single riders line because you must be together.

This is the second thread you have made about trying to exploit the rider switch. Please stop. Abuse will make Disney take it away.

Not necessarily. I have 3 kids and there are some rides that only 1 is tall enough for. So I wait with 2 kids and the oldest gets to ride with my husband and then with me.

Another situation is where none of our kids were tall enough and my husband and I each had to ride alone.

I was actually wondering about a similar situation for our family. Our oldest is old enough and mature enough for a single rider line like Test Track. My middle is tall enough for the ride but too young for single rider. Could we set up a rider swap for me & middle child, then husband and oldest use single rider first?

Yes, obviously if you have multiple people too small then more than one person stays outside. He said his kid is tall enough and going on the ride. Rider swap is not supposed to be a free lightning lane pass for someone fully capable of waiting in the line.

Rider swap is not a free lightning lane. It's purpose is not for if you do not want to wait a long time. If your youngest is too young to ride alone but wants to ride, you do not need a rider swap. You need to get in the line with them.

No, my youngest isn’t tall enough. So we do need a rider swap, if the rest of us want to ride. The question is whether the first group can use the single rider line instead of standby.

My next trip isn’t until June, but I may ask a CM and report back here.

FYI I emailed Disney about this and this was the response:
While we understand your concern regarding using the Single Rider Line at the attractions and then having your other adult party member and the child ride together after you return, it is at the discretion of the Cast Members at the attractions as to whether this can be permitted. Our email office does not have that information, as it would be specific to each attraction.

Please inquire with the Cast Members at the attraction entrances before queuing in the line.

We apologize that we cannot be more specific in our response, and we hope you have a wonderful visit!
Basically it sounds like there isn't an official rule. It's worth asking the CM at Test Track

Per the Disney Website:
Your group will divide into two (2) parties:

  • “Party A” will enter the queue and ride the attraction first,
  • “Party B” will wait outside the queue (with a maximum of two ([2]) people riding next)

I have 0 doubt that Party B can be my wife, my older son, and my infant as there are only 2 people riding next (infant is not a rider). The only question I had was if Party A can use the Single Rider line. Based on my email response from Disney, this would not be abuse and would be up to the CM at each attraction entrance.
