While it felt like a big brother to the GF to me, we felt the food was certainly worthy and a large menu. Downside, it took forever, but we enjoyed it and staff was never rushed or stressed, which was nice for a change. Didn't splurge on the cake slices, but they have some other desserts for around and under $15.

oh you're the one.... lol
I don't know that the interior is worth a $22 slice of cake... It is nice and Girly... but other than glitter dusted treats and some fussy details, it just feels like a money-grab
You realize 1) cake bake show is an existing company that have been open for years and has had been selling the same products for similar prices for awhile and 2) every business is a money grab. I mean every single for profit business opens up to make as much money as possible

Yes I realize those things.....
but we went from a casual median priced restaurant ( which didn't actually fit the theme of the Boardwalk) to a much higher priced restaurant (which also doesn't fit the theme of the resort) with prices high enough to raise eyebrows... Which makes it feel like a money grab to those of us who don't necessarily want to spend $35 for a peanutbutter and jelly sandwich... lol

The Walt Disney Company is an American multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate. It's sole purpose is to make money. It's not a non profit, its not a charity, its not an educational institution.

Its board, officers, directors have a fiduciary duty to the best interest of the company and shareholders. Not the customers, not the public, not to "art" or story telling. While in the magic kingdom it's ok to live in fantasy land, but you should come back to the real world

Used to be, but they're charging deluxe prices now.
checking 6 months from now for a week April 25-May 2nd (rack rate, lowest priced room, taxes and resort fees included):
Dolphin: $2613
Swan: $2635
Swan Reserve: $2855

The cheapest deluxe I can find for that week is AKL @ $4982
Of course you can get deals on either Marriot or Disney's website... but I'm trying to compare Apples to Apples.

the fulfillment of the mission statement is the reason the company makes money though. You can’t have 1 without the other.

I would say the purpose is the mission statement and the result is profit.
No the reason a company makes money is that it sells a product that a consumer wants at a good price, or sells a product that a consumer needs, at a price that they are forced to pay.

Mission statements are non-binding PR jokes to have something on a website or a give away item. They have nothing to do with corporate operations, or the profit motives that are required by law for directors/officers to follow.

Google the pharmaceutical and medical insurance companies that operate in the US. All of their mission statements will be some variation on a theme of providing the best affordable health care to everyone. With a straight face/keyboard finger you gonna argue that the mission statement has anything to do with the actual purpose of the company?

Do you think the medical insurance companies operating in the USA are an example of good businesses?

Or a perfect example of what happens when you ignore the mission and purpose of the company and chase profit first at all costs?

Getting a little far from the boardwalk at this point though…..

They are hugely successful business.

They are hugely profitable. They deliver services people want/need. They innovate and create new offering and push technology along. That is the point of a business. You want to do good works, form a charity.

Good is an absolutely meaningless word to describe a business. It's so subjective as to be completely irrelevant. Is Apple "good" when it employs sweat shop labor throughout the world and builds in time based/version based failures in its products to keep people having to buy new ones, and limiting third party providers ability to build off the product?

OR is Apple "good" when it has revolutionized the communication and information distribution capabilities of the world/public, putting more computing power in people's pockets than Nasa had when they launched the first space missions? They have provided access to information that in past would have been unheard of.
