A better iteration than versions 2 and 3 is not an impressive hurdle to clear and I would hope the standards are infinitely higher. They're genuinely terrible rides even ignoring the existence of V1, I personally consider them the worst Disney has ever created (yes much worse than Superstar Limo). That includes V3. On a scale of 1-10, my most charitable rating is a 2/10.

JII V1 was one of those classic 9/10 arguably 10/10 rides. Would have aged like fine wine had it remained open and kept in proper shape. It would be extremely easy to create a vastly better ride than V2/3, again not a great achievement. I would hope the bar is a lot higher than "better than what's there now", it SHOULD be "as good or better than V1". I wish people would would develop higher standards than desperate dogs starving for the tiniest scraps that are dangled in front of them.

A while back, I created a hypothetical layout of a "sparknotes" version of the original JII using the current shorter track layout. I don't condone this as an acceptable alternative to a proper 1:1 rebuild with the original full length of the track and turntable restored, but this is probably the best case for the existing layout. With great care, it MIGHT be possible to squeeze an 8/10 ride out of this if they can find some good artists. But that's a big if given the talent of their current crop of imagineers...

Queue and load/unload areas needs some major reformatting, Dreamcatcher sequence would need to be an off-ride preshow. And the finale would need to be consolidated and reworked. But the rest of the scenes could be recreated 1:1. I don't trust them with something that diverges more significantly from the original without Tony Baxter back as lead imagineer. Which i'm assuming is "not a chance in hell". He's been consistent in saying he'd be thrilled to come back as lead on V4, but the company clearly doesn't want anything to do with him.
Wait a minute, you made this map? Did you just edit the Park Lore map or are you him?

I hope it's not true, unless these are the plans:

its a small world paper GIF by Disney Parks
you mean a real, full sized, modernized IASW (instead of the 5 min crap show that MK has)? I was thinking the same thing. Since it's in FW though, perhaps something actually relevant to our future?

This would've happened a decade ago.

Unless you mean Magic Eye.
*This SHould've happened a decade ago.* While viewing Monsters Inc. for the first time in 2001 I, like many, was thinking, "this would make a great ride!" Best-case-scenario it may be ready in-time for the films 25th anniversary (*laughs at self again*). So while many of us in 2015 were again thinking while watching IO for the first time, "this would make a great ride!" something may have started but won't be ready for announcement for many more years. Another example is Little Mermaid. I and others thought in 1989, "this would make a great dark ride!" that didn't happen until 20+ years later (NB: not saying it's a great dark ride lol).

Maybe imagined future possibilities. We have a rather violent past and i don't imagine the future will be any different. Disney likes to pretend it doesnt exist.

After test track 3.0. I am more than ready for the future of what EPCOT could be and I’m glad imagineering seems to share that sentiment.

While I’m optimistic, I also undertand that budgets and things happen, not EVERYTHING being discussed is gonna happen, but I do trust imagineering with this one. They seem to be back on their game as of late and again with TT3.0 I think they seem to “get” EPCOT (but again, could just be me being overly optimistic)

very hopeful a decent amount of this sticks, but even if it’s just SSE and figment, i am excited to see what WDI has in store. Lets hope it sticks.

TDO and WDI would trip on the low bar of the last two JII iterations, underwhelm by every measure but throw in a few ham-fisted “Easter eggs”, and tons of people, including a very significant number around here, would praise it as the greatest thing built since 1983.

But none of this has anything to do with the Wonders of Life building.

Just edited, i'm not the Park Lore guy. I posted this in another thread a while back. Kept his logo as a way to credit him as the original artist, but I guess it caused some confusion.

The parts of this that I made are the queue, preshow theaters, modified load/unload, finale show scene and exit tunnel.

The goal I heard is to have Imagination 4, SSE 5, POTENTIALLY another World Showcase ride and WoL replacement by EPCOT50.

Some more... 'optimistic' voices have said another country and maybe a Mission Space retheme/something else. I don't believe those til I see them.
This would be a great lineup for the 50th

I would love a little D ticket Luca boat ride in Italy
One of the weakest WS pavilions imo, and right in between the 2 nearest rides

Rather see The Rapunzel Boat ride in Germany...
Would love a Rapunzel ride at WDW, but being a classic fairy tale it's a perfect fit for Fantasyland (just like Frozen)

While Luca, like Ratatouille and Coco, is set in modern times and is very much a celebration of its country's culture, making it as good a fit for a World Showcase ride as an IP can be

Just my preference though, keep castles at MK

I sincerely think Imagination 4 has high chances at next year's D23, but everyone has said that for about two decades.
I would be good with Imagination 4, SSE 5 and a major redo of the central spine - in other words, tear out Communicore Hall and the Garden and start from scratch, with the addition of a grand fountain being non-negotiable.

If Daddy Josh gets picked to be the new CEO and wants to really get in with the legacy EPCOT crowd, he would do well to make certain that any new version of Imagination included a return of the Dreamfinder. Just from a merchandising opportunity alone it would be a win. They could make a popcorn bucket of him holding his own small Figment popcorn bucket! And to get really nuts with outlandish ideas, why not add the UK expansion, but with a Poppins dark ride that actually does justice to the significance of the original movie.

One other question I have is with regard to M:S. Due to the unique ride system, I’m assuming it would be tough to do an overlay of that ride. I would guess that if a change was ever proposed, it would have to be a full on replacement, no? But then what would happen with Space 220? That is a popular venue, and that restaurant and ride mesh well with one another. I almost feel that the addition of that restaurant has made it harder to replace that attraction. And I would think they would love to replace it as it doesn’t draw in the crowds like CR and TT do.

Someone doesn’t like the new Test Track.

They could overlay it with a space based IP.
