Is there a prevalent anti-NYC sentiment that’s driving some of the discussion here?
I’m confused by your posts. Are you saying New York doesn’t deserve to be in the lineup?

Compelling how? In an aerial tour of the US, what city could be more iconic or recognisable than NYC? The Statue of Liberty alone is enough to merit the city’s inclusion. Omitting it would be like omitting London from a version devoted to the UK."Deserve" is a loaded valuation for which there will be differing opinions. I have many friends and relatives that live in different boroughs in NYC but still don't weigh it as a must have. Personally I lean towards Boston and Philadelphia as being more compelling.

It’s not at all obvious to me. I don’t think it would be a typical Scottish position to leave London out of a version of Soarin’ devoted to the whole UK.Also as someone with Scots lineage, I would omit London for obvious reasons.
If they can work out a way to stop it bending from the outside seats! The Statue of Liberty alone is enough to merit the city’s inclusion.
The Statue of Liberty is "American" because it resides in NYC but it was constructed by Gustave Eiffel (recognize the name?) and his team in France. It was shipped in 1884 and finally dedicated by October 28, 1886.The poster itself has the Statue of Liberty on it... I cannot imagine a situation where the attraction doesn't include a segment showing the Statue of Liberty (as it can easily be identified as one of the most "American" man-made landmarks that we have). The most "NYC" area of NYC would arguably be Times Square, but given the distance between Times Square and Statue of Liberty, I think it would be too far for a single (uncut) shot between the two locations. I could see a situation where they do a circle around the Statue of Liberty followed by a zoom over the bay and a wide shot from the south of the iconic skyscrapers on Lower Manhattan before transitioning to the next location (probably significantly easier to film too than anything involving Times Square or Central Park). Checks off the "Statue of Liberty" and "NYC" check boxes in a single shot...
I’m not saying it isn’t worthy of discussion, but this isn’t the place for it. Again, we agreed to their rules by becoming members.Which is EXACTLY why it should be discussed!

Icons I can think of (in no particular order are):
- Statue of Liberty
- Golden Gate Bridge
- Arizona Memorial / Diamond Head
- Mount Rushmore
- St. Louis Arch
- "Sears" Tower (or whatever it's called now)
- Freedom Tower/Ground Zero
- Washington Monument/Lincoln Memorial/Jefferson Memorial/Capitol Bldg/WH (Washington Mall)
- Old Faithful (Yellowstone NP)
- El Capitan (Yosemite NP)
- New Orleans (because of Tiana)
- Grand Canyon
- Independence Hall
- USS Constitution
- Lighthouses in Maine

I like Yosemite. But I think there are many other national parks that warrant inclusion instead.I like this list but I don’t think they want to remind people of 9/11 so I don’t think the Freedom Tower/ ground 0 will be included. I also don’t think they double dip on Yosemite and let that be a Soarin Over California destination exclusively. In fact, I’m thinking there’s really no reason to include any California destinations considering it has a whole version dedicated to it. Mayyyybe just the Golden Gate Bridge since it’s so iconic?
I’m sure somebody’s mentioned it but Las Vegas?
