My gut’s telling me it’s the roof. It’s always been the roof.
Might not be far off. Allegedly it had an estimated 30 year lifespan and that was part of the work scope for the Play Pavilion project, total roof replacement. No issues currently as far as I’m aware, but it’s gonna require more long term maintenance than any traditional roof.

They did a significant roof rehabilitation at the end of the 2010's.

I always thought a Weather Pavilion would have been a great use of that pavilion....with what they can do with projection mapping on the ceiling... Bring over a better version of Storm Chasers from TDS Maybe an indoor version of the hovercraft ride... It would need an IP and a sponsor....
Fantastic idea. Weather Channel as the sponsor and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs as the IP (I know I know, its not a Disney IP, but we are just spit balling anyway)

Yeah, when you told me about the second roof replacement in as little time, I knew if it was ever the end for the building, it would be the roof.

Only one roof replacement has happened, and that was 2019 iirc. They did several resealing and repainting jobs to the original roof in the mid 2010s. The only recent thing that has happened to the roof was them reinstalling insulation on the inside last year.

If they have something secretly in mind, D23 Expo next year would be good timing to announce a replacement. If a demo has already happened, they could say "The shovels are in the ground", which they seemed to enjoy saying last time.

Well, I said since it was announced that I didn't want the Play Pavilion to happen, and I thought it was good that it was cancelled. It was going to be outdated very quickly and sit there for 15-20 years instead of leaving an opportunity to use that space for something that actually improved the park.

Didn't want the WOL building demolished, but if they actually have plans for something there... hopefully it's better than Cosmic Rewind.

I genuinely think we get very little in EPCOT until the 50th.
I mean, that tracks. If Tropical Americas is 2027, Monstropolis 2028, Piston Peak 2029, and Villains 2030, you're already almost there, and that would be somewhat optimistic. You'll probably get smaller projects along the way, but they would logically want anything major to align with 2031/2032 both in the context of existing work and the anniversary.

So to those wanting Imagination 4, I would put that, another world showcase country, and WoL replacement in the 50th category. Maybe a central spine fix by that time as well.

So what’s the cost of a gold painted geodesic dome replacement vs demo and a modern building? I wish we could bring it back too, but that’s probably not cheep. it’s not a normal reroof.
