Nearly All Buildings Now Demolished on Tom Sawyer Island at Magic Kingdom
Walt Disney World has continued demolition on Tom Sawyer Island. Now, nearly every building is demolished on the island

The nature of construction is that it will not appear to flow at a steady pace. It's nice to see this moving along at a quick pace. Looking forward to hopefully maintaining the pace through construction.
yep... I come to the construction threads for the pictures - I usually scroll through the chatter, especially when it drifts off topic so much.I do enjoy watching images of Disney construction.
Really enjoyed viewing Pandora and Galaxy's Edge.
You all likely know my opinion on the destruction of the river.
I'll be eagerly watching the build here hoping that Disney delivers
Key element for me is going to be how much water we get back.
Will there be a genuine waterway along the boardwalk, or just a trickle?
Will we get a "mountain" and waterfall opposite where the riverboat dock was - something impressive to look at, or will it be a trickle?
Hoping for the best.
I doubt it was intentional...but the fact several years passed between the end of demo of 20K and the start of construction of New Fantasyland did make watching its construction more appealing imo.I do enjoy watching images of Disney construction.

I hope it gets removed and replaced with something that helps with the transition to the new area.I wonder what they are going to do with the old riverboat dock building... It would be nice to move all that vending cart nonsense from next to HOP and use the dock building as a covered seating area and make it like an old Liberty Square Street Market kind of thing...but with a lovely covered seating area...then maybe add a new building up against the HOP
with fresh food and snacks to take to the covered seating across the way... It wuld be a shame to leave the building sitting there like a footnote to a long gone attraction.....like they did with the Keelboat/canoe dock by the Haunted Mansion. That really should have been used for something.....
I agree that the are watching it because the always watch things, but if the decide based on the usage right now it wouldn't show its popularity. I always do at least one trip around on every trip but I don't see the reason to just go backwards for a couple minutes and then go forward for the same amount of time. There must be others like me, and would still ride it when it becomes a full circleShuttle mode may be a test to see if it’s still worth it to run grand circle. 1 train, 1 crew, 2 stations. Less track to maintain. Someone has to have mentioned it in a meeting. I’m sure they are watching the numbers.
Agreed. The traffic on the river - making it an actual navigable river - is a huge part of the story telling.
It remains in all the concept art...sure they long-before made specific plans for its repurposing....but I couldn't help but wonder if it has to do with it's placement over the Utilidoors?I hope it gets removed and replaced with something that helps with the transition to the new area.
Maybe they still will...they did it beforeDisney is missing out on some money. Take the wood siding of those buildings, cut them up, and sell them in the gift shop. Get a piece of Tom Sawyer Island.
Depends on who "they" are... I don't think Disney has officially ever said what the WDW mountain rage is. Obviously Thunder, Splash, Space, and Everest all have/had it in the official name. However, places like touring plans considers 7D part of the mountains as well https://touringplans.com/blog/conquering-magic-kingdom-mountains-hour/Are they going to count Piston Peak as part of Said MK's "Mountain Range" After Tiana destroyed Chik-a-Pin Hill?
If memory serves correctly...they did this for several attractions too...creeped me out...I have been actively collecting these and re-assembling the floats in my garage.
I can't recall Disney boasting of mountains since Everest.Depends on who "they" are... I don't think Disney has officially ever said what the WDW mountain rage is.
