I spent too long writing commentary! Will Close my duplicate thread.

In an apparent Harry Potter bid. It's refreshing to see Disney at least go back to the well of children's literature as opposed to remakes as the article alludes to. Even if they've stumbled at the gate chronically (Percy Jackson excepted).

This one also has Iger's attention - though he won't be around (presumably) for it to be seen through, it's somewhat notable when Iger is driving the acquisition. Which means big splashy theatrical marketing, as opposed to a direct to streaming effort.

Seriously? They're damaging the classics! And it's like Disney was to replace animated classics! I know, I know, they're not going to be replace.🙄
I don't know how many of these are considered "classics" in the truest sense of the word. All the current live action films that are upcoming or in development are from modern or the renaissance era Disney films.

The only one that is close to being tied to "Classic Disney" is Cruella 2, but that is a sequel to Cruella which was a alternate version of the character not tied to 101 Dalmatians.
