MK Piston Peak and Villains Land Construction Thread

I’m still trying to read through 25 pages of nonsense, but this right here.

If you’ve ever worked on a large project with significant civil infrastructure, you know that “mobilization and prep” work can take up months before you even begin the actual project. Clearing, grading, drainage and erosion control, pump arounds… on a site this size in an active park?

Come on.

question. I know that other disney parks have every single water feature within the park connected. Is this the same for MK. ie is the former rivers water connected to the water of the jungle cruise, or behind tron, or the TL entrance

The dark water system is a Disneyland thing.

Rivers of America at Magic Kingdom were part of the larger Walt Disney World water management system that includes the lakes, ponds and canals. It was directly connected to Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake, and was not connected to other bodies of water in the park. Even within Magic Kingdom, the only bodies that are connected are the castle moat and the Jungle Cruise, and that is because of the Swan Boats that briefly circled between the Hub and Adventureland.

I would imagine land clearing on a 14 acre parcel will take around 3 to 4 weeks. Then grubbing, rough grading, and survey and stakeout another 3 or 4.

THEN the work can begin.

And that's only if they don't run into any unforseen issues during the process.

Although I realize that it's impossible for anyone to consider everything, the fact that they added fans long after walling-off HMq tells me they could have done some better advanced planning.

Is there nobody at WDW who looked at this and thought, “Wait… this sucks”?

The worst part about this whole Cars Land thing isn’t losing the beautiful Rivers of America, nor the lost of the atmosphere around the Haunted Mansion.

The real tragedy is bringing an IP-specific land inside Magic Kingdom.


Fantasyland, where fairy tales come to life and dreams are just a wish away.

Tomorrowland, the land of progress, space, and the promise of the future.

Adventureland, filled with mystery, jungles, and the thrill of exploration.

Frontierland, echoing the spirit of the wild west and pioneers who dared to dream big.

Liberty Square, a tribute to the birth of a nation and the ideals of freedom.


And now you have cars land... and it's not even radiator springs..

Carsland is at DCA. Piston Peak represents a National Park, part of the (final) "frontier". To boldly go where no IP has gone before...
