Reminds of the Stonehenge scene from a certain movie …..

What were all you’re opinions when they replaced the old mill with the frozen castle?
Don't know about then, but I think it works better than the old mill when looking at it as a whole now. It was done tactfully, and used an underutilized space. The only thing the old mill had going for it was history. I'm certain 95+% of people riding it in 2025 don't know what The Old Mill is, while 95+% have at least heard of Frozen.

Was never a fan of a classic Walt cartoon being replaced by a modern CGI cartoon, and always felt it was done due to the major hype of the movie at that time. As wityblack said, it was at least done tastefully and isn't an eye sore.

I remember when I rode it a year or two ago and someone asked the CM on the boat what was there before and she didn't even know. I had to step in and explain.

On a trip I made in 2014, which was the only trip I ever took my DSLR camera on, I snapped a pic of one of the windmills. Little did I know they were going to rip it out later that year.

I have a lot of shots from that trip of things that don't exist anymore at the resort. Wild to think of as it was only 11 years ago.

Yeah same here. It bothered me in principle but because the Storybookland Canal boats wasn’t something I rode often back then ( maybe 2-3 times my whole life tops) it didn’t bother me as much as it probably would have today. Seeing Frozen there didn’t seem odd or out of place as not only was it done tastefully but as I said I had only been on it a couple times. For me nearly everything left (other than maybe Aladdin and Mermaid) should be untouchable but Cinderella, Snow White and Pinocchio are at the top of that list.

This is good news! I've long been surprised how little they update StorybookLand over the years and decades.

I get it that they don't want it to become a cheesy billboard for the latest movie that could likely flop or stir up controversy. But after a hit movie has been out for a year or two, and proved itself worthy of inclusion into StorybookLand, it should be added within another year or two.

You shouldn't have to wait 15 or 20 years to add a slam dunk idea like Rapunzel's Tower to this attraction. But glad they finally carved out a little bit of money from a TDA fund and found some time to do this finally!

I know I saw you last week but nice to see you active here again.

I agree and yet these days we have to be careful what we wish for. Seems like many projects are a mixed bag or worse. With Rapunzel's tower I wouldn't be shocked at all to see that they replaced all the real grass with astro turf during this update. Just look at the HM queue project that came with that GOD AWFUL store.

Or how about a little bit of the Tiana treatment with perhaps some of these signs all over the place?

I noticed that little sign. Surely that won't be part of the actual scene along the canal banks, and was just included in the artwork to reinforce what this new addition was? I mean, they can't be that stupid to start plopping explanatory signs on each scene, can they?

The silly sign wasn't what first caught my eye though. I first noticed that the CM piloting the boat was a circa 1985 Attractions Hostess like the kind they don't hire anymore. White, slim, pretty, blonde, fits into a uniform, always has a date on a Saturday night in Fullerton, etc., etc. Who approved this little bit of Non-Inclusive debauchery in this artwork???

Is it still 2025? Or is WDI slipping back into 1963?

But then there was the inevitable second look, and it got worse. They've got grown adult men, riding Storybook Land Canal Boats unattended by children, oohing and aahing with mouths agape at.... what exactly? They aren't looking at Rapunzel's Tower, and they certainly aren't looking at the pretty blonde Hostess. So why are they in awe?

Come on boys, tone it down just a bit, you aren't supposed to be that into it!

What the heck are you talking about? The fact that they hire people that are qualified doesn't mean they don't hire blondes? This isn't the 50s anymore, we actually care about merit and not just looks. And guess what, there are tons of skinny blondes working at Disneyland. I'm sorry not every CM is pretty enough for you to ogle.
