Disney's Animal Kingdom Files Permit for Harambe Market Refurbishment Ahead of Restaurantosaurus Menu Shift

I could be wrong I think Kusafri is the only other QS able to make hot food. (and I don't think its really a full kitchen... just a place to keep tator tots and breakfast sandwiches hot?)Africa has a few F&B venues, I can see the market becoming chicken nuggets/burgers, and some of the more themed food being distributed to other locations in the land.
Fichwa Grimace Shake incoming. How many research trips to the Nairobi McDonalds were required to get the theming perfect? Can’t wait to see the knock-off Hamburgler painted on the wall in a way only Disney can pull off.
I always saw the current Harambe Market menu as a 'Satu'li support' menu as whilst there were differences the principles were quite similar. I think the Harambe menu will be lost.I could be wrong I think Kusafri is the only other QS able to make hot food. Tamu Tamu is all just ice cream and deserts. Mahindi is just popcorn/Pecans/Chips. Dawa bar is just drinks. Harambe Fruit market is just fruit, hot dogs, pretzels, and chips.
I don't really see any of them being able to mass produce Rice Bowls or Pitas...
Side note... I think there are like 4 places to get spiced up chicken on/with rice in AK.
Harambee market: Chicken Rice Bowl
Satu'li Canteen: Chopped Wood-Grilled Chicken Bowl
Yak & Yeti™ Local Food Cafes: Honey Sesame Chicken
Flame Tree Barbecue: 1/2 Chicken and a side of Rice and Beans
The problem is that many guests expect those items and won’t eat anything else. This is why every park has them available somewhere. There should be an unwritten rule - you do not add burgers / fries / pizza / mac&cheese and other frozen / microwaved $1 processed crud to your menu in this day and age. It's not even a cost thing at this point, it costs no more for a nicer dish (rice + chicken in some form, noodles + veg + protein, etc).
Which is fine, because as we all know theres ample places that already offer that menu in every park and resort. Suggesting a few of them switch to a menu slightly more focused on eating habits of the 21st century isn't exactly a hard ask.The problem is that many guests expect those items and won’t eat anything else. Many of the quick service locations in the parks do offer more unique menus. There really aren’t ample places to get those items. Generally each park only has one location serving the standard burger and fries. That’s why this change is happening. With restaurantosaurus closing there would be no location at DAK serving burgers and fries.Which is fine, because as we all know theres ample places that already offer that menu in every park and resort. You could switch every quick service across property over to a more modern menu, and still be able to cater to people who only eat burgers and fries fairly easily given the tiny amount of prep space and time it requires.
Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafes still does burger & fries. And technically so does flame tree bbq, but granted its a pulled pork burger and fries. With restaurantosaurus closing there would be no location at DAK serving burgers and fries.
That's just not true, and never has been. Even if we ignore table service and only count quick service and ignore chicken burgers or "sandwiches" that look identical to burgers it's not the case.Generally each park only has one location serving the standard burger and fries.
Having a single specialty burger on the menu does not make it a burger and fries restaurant. Regal eagle, Pecos Bills, Local Food Cafes have unique menus that don’t qualify to fit that need. Like it or not there is a demand for this type of menu and those establishments alone do not satisfy that demand. MK: Cosmic Rays, Pecos Bills, Tortuga Tavern (pulled pork) - sidenote: WAY too many identical hot dogs at MK's QS locations!
HS: Backlot Express, Rosie's
EP: Connections Eatery, Regal Eagle
TL: Leaning Palms, Typhoon Tilly's (pulled pork)
BB: Lottawatta Lodge, Warming Hut
Getting back on track all I suggested was that we dont need more places adding burgers/pizza/pasta to their menu, there's already ample coverage of that at all the parks, and they could all benefit from some more adventurous or even just unique offerings rather than "heres another burger but its totally different because we used a different blob of sauce than the old one".
If the concern was AK didn't have enough cheap crap food available then they could just double down on the junk they have over at pizzafari as being the worst QS on property seems to be the whole purpose of that place.
I could be wrong but I think the reason is harambe has fryers and pizzafari does notIt does seems odd that burgers weren’t just added to the pizzafari menu. That’s a much better location for families to eat (large indoor dining rooms) - and appears to be under utilized.
With the avatar canteen and flame tree in the park - I never really ate at Harambe so it doesn’t matter to me personally.
I thought the construction was to add fryers?I could be wrong but I think the reason is harambe has fryers and pizzafari does not
