Pre-Trip I May Have Done a Thing...

I know, I know, that's the busiest time of year to go, but hear me out! Christmas sucks for us right about now! And we decided that instead of staying home and wallowing in our sorrow, we would go somewhere and try to keep ourselves busy. Christmas 2022 obviously sucked, but we were so numb at that point that it's all a blur. Then 2023 was horrific and felt like the first Christmas without Lily. Needless to say, I didn't feel like decorating nor celebrating, so we didn't do a whole lot that year. Last year, I still couldn't bring myself to decorate, but we tried to attend a few celebrations and ease back into things. My anniversary trip with Brian last year helped get me closer to remembering that I used to love Christmas and all the decorations, but I'm still not sure I would be able to decorate the house this year either, so now I won't have to worry about it too much! The boys don't necessarily want to go anywhere, but they grudgingly agreed to go with us when I promised we would make it as laid back and stress free as possible, which I know means we will miss seeing and doing a lot of things! As you can surmise from my picture, we are staying at Caribbean Beach again. I booked two (hopefully connecting) standard view 5th sleeper rooms. I am going to request to be in Trinidad again this year.

Now onto the specifics:

Who: me (Amy) and my husband Brian, Logan (23), and Owen (17)
When: Sunday, December 21-Sunday, December 28 We are going to drive down because I don't want to take chances with the airlines that time of year, and I want to be able to pack as much as I want and bring back as much as I want without worrying if it will fit in our bags!! We will either leave on Saturday and drive just beyond Atlanta and stay overnight in a hotel before continuing the journey on Sunday, or we'll leave at o'dark thirty on Sunday morning and drive through the night to arrive mid afternoon barring any traffic delays. We are leaning toward driving straight through, but we'll see as we get closer!
Where: CBR standard view 5th sleeper rooms. I have requested they be connecting and I will eventually call and request to be in Trinidad to have the Under the Sea renovated rooms
Why: as previously discussed, to help keep our minds off of things!

Brian and I had the pleasure of attending an Indiana Fever game this summer and even ended up appearing on their Facebook post!

It was a phenomenal experience and I sincerely hope we get the chance to do it again!

And we are in the thick of Owen's senior soccer season right now

As someone who has escaped to Disney to avoid Christmas at home, I think this is a great choice. And we love CBR.

Also: you can decorate your rooms!
Yeah, I'll probably get an inexpensive tree to take with us. Part of my reluctance to decorate at home this year is the two hooligan cats pictured above, so not having to worry about them knocking things down may help me be more likely to decorate down there!

I hope you have a great time! I'm on the look out for a good price for flights right after Christmas but I don't think it is going to happen so I'll have to live the Disney Christmas season through you.

I kind of "hate" when you post pictures with your beautiful Vera Bradley bedspread in them because I wish I had gotten one with that pattern but now I can't find one at a decent price. Ugh. :)

Thanks! Flights were definitely more than I was wanting to pay, especially since Southwest is now charging for bags and that's the only airline that flies nonstop for us. We'll just drive the 13 hours. At least there are 2 of us to share it. If it makes you feel any better, I was disappointed that the quilt shrunk a little bit when it was washed. I expected better than that from Vera!
