I’m ngl, at that point I think it’s a potentially unhealthy relationship with Disney then. If you’re paying all of that money, expecting to be disappointed and just wishing for ANYTHING good, why are you still going? It just sounds like maybe the parks are no longer for you, no offense

Many of us have stopped going and it is because of that very reason.

I definitely see your point but I don’t think it’s hollow and pointless to point towards things Walt was heavily involved in and spoke on.

We all know, without a doubt, that Walt was a huge fan of President Lincoln for example. Just like we know he loved the song feed the birds.

And yes we know he loved trains - and that Disneyland would most likely not exist without Walt’s love of trains.

The steamboat specifically is something that was always a part of Disneyland from the earliest days, even when the map was basically a carbon copy of greenfield village.

There actually was another MuppetVision. It was in DCA from 2001-2014 and it was right next to Superstar Limo at first so guests could get off that ride quickly and move on to see a quality attraction to immediately forget the 5 minutes of their lives wasted on Superstar Limo.

I've edited my post to say "not always" because, you are correct, there are things we know for sure regarding his own tastes and beliefs, like his undeniable love of trains, but Walt's name is sometimes used in a general sense to justify something the company does or doesn't do (most commonly "Disneyland will never be complete").

Which does nothing for guests at MK, of which there are more than at any other park. I mean, I get the reasoning, but I also hate it.

The same reasoning is also used to defend ridding DCA of Tower Of Terror due to Florida's being better.

I guess whenever they decide to get rid of the Castle at Disneyland Paris they can just say “do you know how many castles we have in Europe?”

That is literally why they had to make the DLP Castle as fairy tale looking as possible because the American ones would look too similar.

I think the unresolvable debate is always - are we talking about Disney as he was in a world that existed 60+ years ago, or are we talking about who Disney likely would have been if he was alive today?

The former is much more verifiable but hard to say if it would still apply today. The latter is all speculation (and, Disney being a strong personality and our world being quasi insane today, I feel there are non zero odds he would have been a bit of a wing nut in 2025, ha ha!)

We don’t know what the results will be of the cars land. While I don’t anticipate another rocket rods situation… it’s not an impossibility.

EDIT: oh you meant how West Coasters would rank lost WDW attractions. Personally I’d put their Splash Mountain in the #2 spot or GMR but I’m sure there is an old Epcot attraction that I’ve never seen that night deserve that spot.

Yea sorry, second out of the four options presented for WDW. Or in this case 3 + ITTBAB. I was just reading the poll as recent and forthcoming WDW closures. Not an extensive list dating back years.

You are right and probably the broader Muppets courtyard is responsible for the love in part inversely.

Personally I think MV3D holds up way better than Bug. I just thought it funny that we lost four major things this year and no one cares about Bug.

I like Bug, but I decry its loss mostly for the loss of DAK'd thematic cohesion and no more inclusion of bugs in an animal park. Creepy crawlers in the hidden spaces in the soil at a tree's roots are just a good fit. Zootopia doesn't belong in DAK whatsoever.

I very well named myself after a lost WDW paddle wheel steamboat, no false nostalgia here. For me the loss of the river and its boats and island, and above all its very feel, hits as hard as MS being transformed into Zootopia or San Fransokyo or something.

OMG, can you even imagine if that happened? It was a disaster for Disneyland who knocked out one ride to put it in....Now this project taking out two attractins plus a quadrant of the park and impacting two lands would seriously be a mess.

I severely doubt that the exact situation COULD happen again. People Mover's situation is so unique because it goes through so many buildings. This is a relatively flat expanse of space, if something in the ride system broke, they could simply fix it, redo the ride entirely, or just replace it with theming to not leave an empty shell + we would still gain the Villian's land.

ROA still exists at numerous parks around the world. It can only been seen as the worst loss in Disney parks history if you only visit Orlando and have absolutely zero capacity to ever visit another park.

Muppetvision no longer exists anywhere in the world. No matter how much money you spend, you can no longer experience that attraction.

As in this Cars project at MK. No, but they also didn't mention most of their current projects except Villains Land and Frozen at DLP.
If you mean the movie, no because it didn't fit into any of the themes of the panels
