Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

I'm not saying they're lying, maybe they did see a document. Without anything but the word of a couple posters its hard to just take their word for it. We've been burned by many many supposed "insiders" for years here. So I don't think its unfair to question the veracity of the claim. Or even question if its possible it was taken out of context, plenty of times that has happened.

Also the question I've asked now multiple times still hasn't been answered. If these are recent, and they aren't suppose to be referencing voodoo at all, then why were zombie walkers, or "dolls", preceding him in the parade even as recent as last year. That would be a direct reference to voodoo. So again doesn't make sense if we are to believe what they are saying it true.

In the famous words of Chris Tucker from Rush Hour… “wipe yourself off man, you dead.”

A little late to this party but they shared the below at Destination D23 this past weekend. Surprised to see Dr. Facilier pictured as some of the inspiration for Villains Land. Clearly, they’ve seen the comments from thousands of fans that were confused/ disappointed by his absence in Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and have back tracked a bit. Maybe we can take this as a sign that he will be added to the attraction sooner or later…which I always thought was inevitable.

There’s also a character experience coming to Destiny.

I’ve just always thought the ride was not a storybook retelling and was set well post events of the film. I think trying not to have Tiana be a frog most of the ride was the true motivation, because in addition to Facilier they lost Ray and I don’t think the company had it out for Ray either. It seems quite multifactorial rather than targeted.

As for your question, I don't know if Disney is actively trying to "censor" the character. Could it be possible, sure. But I can't say one way or the other if they are or not. The point above about the reference in the parade just last year indicates to me that no they aren't, but who knows.
Zombies are zombies. Not voodoo. May seem stupid to you, but that’s the way Disney looks at it

Lol, ok. So can you answer the question since the other two won't?

If these are recent documents are real and recent, and they aren't suppose to be referencing voodoo at all because they are "censoring" the character, then why were zombie walkers, or "dolls", preceding him in the parade even as recent as last year. That would be a direct reference to voodoo. So again doesn't make sense if we are to believe what they are saying is true.

Ray's in the ride, at least his voice. But then he dies in the middle because his stars are seen in the middle of the ride.

Notice how he doesn’t have a Skull and Crossbones on his hat.

I’m not interested in the current argument or taking a side. Facilier was part of the villains source image as six targeted characters because he can perform magic and conjure things.

If they do have a company wide strategy, it seems irrelevant to me. If they did, it failed to stick. I think a lot of the strategies were attraction and project specific to TBA.

Likewise for those upset there are not enough villains in modern attractions, villains land is a major course correction. Good things are coming if you like Villains!

Right Tiana was a factor too but that could have easily been worked around. The choices weren’t completely abandon the story/ story beats of the film or the pile of crap they came up with. We just want songs, characters and story beats from the film. Imagine instead of the preschool repetitive dialogue and finding a band we go to the bayou instead to help find Naveen who’s been captured by Facilier? Who is pretty much a third character that was all but non existent in this attraction? Now why would they eliminate essentially three of the most popular characters of the film to give us what they gave us?

Does it not seem more likely to you that they decided to set the attraction after the events of the film because they knew they couldn’t use Facilier. Consider why they changed the attraction in the first place. Thats kind of important. In what world does it make sense to remove two of the most popular charcaters in the film and replace them with what they replaced them with? So the big awesome idea they went with was to find a band with the climax being the amazing frog scene with two screens?

I just checked. It’s a yes or no. “I don’t know” isn’t valid.

Then no, because it seems pretty clear to me at this point, especially after this interaction about the "internal documents" all this was specific to TBA and not a company wide strategy. For whatever reason they decided to just not feature him in the attraction. And I suspect these "internal documents" are also specific to TBA and not a company wide initiative because its mentioned by one of the posters how it talks about not speaking about the Briars or Splash. Which why would anyone in Entertainment in relation to Facilier even need to talk about that. So its again clear all of this is just about TBA and nothing beyond that.

And if there was an attempt to expand him to being "censored" beyond the attraction, which I highly doubt, well it failed.

I’m likely not going to move you from your narrative. But the commonly cited reason was they didn’t want Tiana to be a frog most of the time and they were ham fisted into putting a princess ride over the bones of Splash and tried to make it less scary for its target audience, which yes would include Facilier. Though obviously there was no company wide policy against him, it was project specific.

Generally speaking the target audience has embraced the ride as a lateral move born out of GSATs. Unfortunately there’s no reason for them to change it.

Less scary for the ride with a 50 foot drop? Surely you see how illogical this sounds right? A five year old kid would be much more scared of a 50 foot drop than some character in a movie theyve seen a million times. One is new to them and one isn’t.
