Perhaps they could replace the final COP scene with something like this scene from Epcot's HORIZON pavilion.

Well in truth we are still not there as far as technology and style...It still feels like it is in the future.... VS the finale being about 1990.... THe final scene should be something very future forward like the setting from Horizons, or back to a 1964, hopeful optimistic New Years Eve....

Let's see what happens...I always loved looking into the attractions from Wedway. Although I thought the salon scene was dumb when I first saw it in 1995...it's grown on me over the decades, as I know it has on others...but I wouldn't cry myself to sleep if she finally finished her appointment! She fit more with the theme of 1994 Tomorrowland, which has since become a 1971/1994 hybrid (not complaining about that).

Perhaps Disney learned a thing or two about plussing and maintaining their classics recently via guest ratings... Meaning it is finally "worth" investing in their historical attractions making them "like-new" again to restore their popularity...

...Test Track going old school epcot is sort of another example of this.

...Hopefully they will execute tiki room better than their last attempt when the time comes.

I will prefer updating classics that attempt to respect their roots as much as possible, over outright closures, "all day every day"

I don't know. I don't get much out of that video. Revealing how AAs work is one thing but in doing so they might be shifting the focus too much on Walt rather than the show's actual narrative. Does this respect the roots of the show? Do we really need a spoiler or explanation of how AAs function leading up to this show? Plus, that video doesn't really fit the messaging of CoP. Leads me to believe the show's narrative of "following an American family over 4 generations of progress watching how technology has transformed their lives" will no longer apply. And instead we'll just be watching how Walt creates an AA show. A non-starter, in my mind. A 10 min suspension of disbelief with actual story will always be better than a 10 min demo reel.

All we know now is there will be, "updates," a Walt animatronic, likely placed at the beginning, likely a brief speech like at Disneyland, likely with a similar faithfulness to its concept art (when seeing that the final result at Disneyland was quite faithful to its concept art). I'm happy about all these "things" (one of Walt's favorite words). All else at this time is pure conjecture unless I missed a subsequent announcement.

Of all the places they could use Walt's personal credence I think this is one of the best you could come up with. It really has the opportunity to set the show up in a great way to make it seem more relevant and resonating for today's audiences. CoP has such a message, and hopefully if they focus on that (and not just a history lesson of the show) it will make the attraction more relevant.

I'm not much of a fan of the show given it's aged presentation, but I am a believer in the power of it's message and it's optimism. It's one of the more inspiring elements of Walt's persona and passions and I'm really hoping that can come through in this kind of show update.

This is probably one of the most highest potential updates (for me) they've announced in some time. The potential boost from something so minor is big IMO.

Yes, since the current show isn’t the original - there isn’t any real history like with tiki birds.

We all kinda knew the carousel would be updated or replaced soon - this seems like the best possible solution.

I still don’t love the idea of Walt as an AA - but it fits better here than a solo show like at Disneyland.

I honestly don't know what the direction they are going in. It seems to be aiming to evoke the 71 incarnation but there is still so much leftover from the 94 version that they seem to not have a clear direction on how to re-theme the land. Guess we will see what happens when Buzz re-opens.

Since they started replacing several of the 1994 components that previously replaced the 1971 original components with 1971 replicas I've been wondering if their new "story" is that the current 1971/1994 hodgepodge is now "the tomorrow that never was?" I liked the 1994 version. I loved the 1971 version (but it seemed few others did during that time lol). Either way, at the very least, here's hoping for a better entrance facade for Buzz....I NEVER got used to that!
