Yes. "Safe" and "familiar" are actually great terms. These new projects are all generally "diet" theme - with a few higher end touches. I think Destino has been the most successful of the group, and it could even use some improvements.

I think the Destino shell is probably the worst of the lot and kickstarted the hotel design everyone here dislikes. The outside at least. The lack of balconies makes it worse than Poly island Tower. Though they did a really poor job with I think what are the stairwells on PIT.

Destino could easily be shoved somewhere else in Orlando and carry a standard hotel brand. Other than it being newer and marginally nicer.

No no, you all have it wrong.

You will be immersed in stories when you walk through the door. These stories will immerse you in their storytelling. And those immersive stories will be stories that by their storytelling will immerse you. In their story. And the stories that immerse you will be immersive stories, and they will immerse you in their story.

You’ll see. Just wait for the IP Wall!

I agree. The exterior and the destruction of the forced perspective are the worst. I was looking at the project as a whole. By exteriors, when you factor in location and theme of the location, I think all of the recent projects (Riv, Destino, Island, Lakeside and arguably Swan Reserve) are pretty large failures. I think they all could either be generic hotels (Riv, Destino, Reserve) or apartment buildings (Island, Lakeside) easily.

I also would note location. Island and Riviera (and likely Lake) intrude greatly on other locations. Coronado used Destino to retell the story - and I think it was relatively successful, especially for a resort that is targeting conventioneers. It is Disney's competitor to Swan and Dolphin more than Riverside or Poly or the Lodges. So, it has a bit of a different standard in my view. Going to a generic tower like that in Polynesia or the Wilderness just feels safe and corporate to me.

I’ll never understand why Disney stuck the riviera right in the middle of CBR. Could have just made the DVC Caribbean themed also and made it one complex. Really hate how it ruined the whole vibe of that area.

pool, restaurant, room layouts. gimme the good stuff.
Not much more to share for the restaurant - It’s a table service restaurant. It should hold up to 300 people. It may or may not have a wall dedicated to IP on the outside. Len has shared some room renderings. Not sure what you’re looking for as far as room layouts, they are standard DVC and cash rooms. I don’t have any information as to room decor.

Some of the original concept art showed characters from Bambi outside the Reflections entry way. Anybody know if this is still planned, and could it indicate something about the theming.

I like Destino on the inside though and all the touches connecting to Walt and Dali, but yeah, of outside is pretty bland

I think it serves it's purpose quite well being at a moderate and for conventions

As your editor, I'm going to have to ask you to include the words "activation", "inspired", and at least one contractually required "magic". Good work otherwise. Oh and don't forget the requirement to mention DVC so we can embed a hyperlink in the piece as a sales lead.
