It’s the first bar / lounge in a park that is over 50 years old. You can be for it and still acknowledge it’s a significant shift. So you’re telling me they’re serving alcohol in a bar/lounge?

Just because you may not like the theme or design of a hotel, park attraction, eatery, etc. does not mean that a "ton of thematic effort" was not put into it. Others may, and do, appreciate the thematic design of those projects. It's amazing that the first project they put a ton of thematic effort into in years is a bar that is/will print money. Hopefully this trend will continue in the hotel design, park attraction design, other eatery design, etc, but probably not.
Its been reported you can order soft drinks...the normal disney coke products.
If you have been looking for a reservation as a party of two, it appears most dates are now available:

Eh, I don’t view this much as a “significant shift”. It’s not like this is alcohol’s debut at MK. How many years has it been? 13ish? And yes, I understand the first 10 were very few locations. (BoG, dessert parties, maybe 1 or 2 more places/events?)It’s the first bar / lounge in a park that is over 50 years old. You can be for it and still acknowledge it’s a significant shift.
Probably more a case of adjusting capacity as they have seen how things have worked during the opening weeks. It’s almost as if the scarcity was complete poppycock and artificially created to gin up demand.
I wonder what other things they play these same games with….
Or maybe it was to fine tune the operations by limiting the number of customers. Not everything is some sort of "poppycock."It’s almost as if the scarcity was complete poppycock and artificially created to gin up demand.

They're going fast. REAL fast.If you have been looking for a reservation as a party of two, it appears most dates are now available:

I don't think it'll ever result in the bad behaviors from epcots "around the world."Eh, I don’t view this much as a “significant shift”. It’s not like this is alcohol’s debut at MK. Yes, it’s the first place at MK that’s mostly geared toward alcoholic drinks, but that’s it. I just don’t think it’s something major/earth shattering in terms of the direction of MK. To each their own.
So kind of you to tag me! Many thanks to you and @DCBaker!
Indeed. There were many empty tables when I went, and I didn’t assume some grand conspiracy.Probably more a case of adjusting capacity as they have seen how things have worked during the opening weeks.

I was actually going to post here today to tell everyone not to lose hope: I managed to snag someone’s cancellation the other day by refreshing the app. And it seems that the reservations they released today are already gone, so my message still stands.
The tavern itself is incredible in person. (Even my minor complaint—based on photos—about the blue LED lighting turned out to be unfounded.) I would recommend the experience to any Disney fan.

I’m not sure how you figure that, considering it’s been packed to the max since opening. If anything 2 tops are easier to operate because they generally order less.Probably more a case of adjusting capacity as they have seen how things have worked during the opening weeks.
It hasn't been running at max.I’m not sure how you figure that, considering it’s been packed to the max since opening. If anything 2 tops are easier to operate because they generally order less.
When I was in there it was tight. I’d hate to see it running at max then. All makes sense why they favored the larger parties like mine.It hasn't been running at max.
“Packed to the max” and at maximum capacity are not the same.I’m not sure how you figure that, considering it’s been packed to the max since opening. If anything 2 tops are easier to operate because they generally order less.
But I’m sure it completely doesn’t factor that 2 tops in high turnover settings are generally less profitable than parties with 4 or more. So they pushed for bigger parties during the opening weeks.
Was every available seat occupied when I was there? Yes. And after 45 minutes people were cycled through with no dillydallying.“Packed to the max” and at maximum capacity are not the same.
