There aren’t any rooms on the floor plans for floors 7-9 of that S9 wing. I honestly have no idea what’s going there right now.

Oops sorry! Yes I see where you are talking about now. The resort is incredibly large in person and quickly becomes confusing.

Maybe another DVC centric viewing location? It would be great if there was food and beverage over there.

Even the first floor doesn't look like rooms on S9 from this end.

Hmmmm.

In that case, maybe a lounge and entertainment area, like a ballroom, - for events like the DVC New Year’s event they do at the Contemporary. And restaurant.

With the Presidential and VP Suites in S4.

North elevation is from the lake, south elevation is from the entrance side.

And anyone who posts pics of a building is going to have to be more specific about where it is:

  • Blue is roughly where Bay Lake is
  • S4 in that image is the main lobby and Porte Cochere
  • Lakeside is mostly DVC, S1-S4 are mostly cash rooms
  • TSR is just to the upper right of S6
  • Main pool area is "above" the main lobby and between those two eastern wings
  • Community Hall should be on the 7th floor of S7 facing the lake
  • I honestly have no idea right now what is on the top 3 floors of the S9 wing. Maybe that's a lounge? Haven't looked any deeper right now.
I didn't realize how complex this complex will be:oops:

Disney completely buried the lead with the concept art since you enter the hotel on floor 3. The lobby extends 8 floors. Or at least 6 good ones with the towered windows in the back.

It's definitely not a Riviera or Poly Island Tower lobby. Maybe more like a slightly bigger Aulani lobby.

VP suite is at the end of S1 on the 6th floor. Presidential suite is in S5, on floor 9 facing the lake.

And there do not appear to be a lot of rooms on floors 8 and 9, for both DVC and cash.

The lobby appears to be only 3 floors "tall" and is capped after floor 5. There is a market with seating on floor 1 that's also partially open to floor 2, as is the area to the north/lakeside of the market area.

Do we know if there is going to be a Club Level on the cash side of the resort? It wouldn't make sense to build a new "deluxe" cash resort and not include a club lounge. I mean, CSR even got a lounge in Gran Destino.

The seating area looks like it's a few steps below the rest of the lobby so it should present nice views for those walking through. So far I'm getting a Kidani Village lobby as a comp but arranged differently. There the lobby is on the second floor and windows draw you into the space, but where the large staircase is at Kidani, Lakeshore has a few steps down to a large seating area for guests waiting around.

One nice part is pulling waiting guests out away from walkways. Pulling waiting guests away from vestibule into their own area is a nice answer compared to lobbies with people floating from vestibule and throughout a space, a problem Riviera and Poly have in the middle of the day feeling crowded.

Another nice part is that the offset levels should give nice views because you're not looking through guests in dressing area but you're looking over top of their heads.

The circular stairwell on top left of lobby also gives me some Sapphire Falls stair vibes, just the idea of a grand staircase in its own "room."

I do not see a specific area designated as a club level lounge. There is a "viewing lounge" on the 3rd floor facing the lake.

It's almost like AKL a bit. But bigger maybe.

One person’s trash is another person’s treasure. I am extremely excited for this to open. 😉

Yeah, there’s a very cynical vibe about anything new Disney does. It looks like it’s going to be extremely nice to me. I stayed at Pixar Place at DL and it’s just a pretty normal and old hotel with some heavy theming around Pixar but I had a great experience.

This resort looks incredible.

It looks like the result of someone who is showing off after an introduction to Revit course, and not in a good way.

"Incredible" is an adjective to me reserved for something like Grand Floridian, Wilderness Lodge, even the Contemporary. This? I mean, I hope I'm wrong, but I'm not sure incredible will be the right word. It looks like a generic hotel tower right now and in the drawings. The Poly tower looks like a Hilton with a slight tropical theme and this will look like a Hilton with a slight rustic theme. I'm sorry, but that's not good enough for Disney. Alas, people eat it up regardless so I guess who can blame them for going the more safe/boring/generic route?

To me, this just isn't good enough. It's not good enough for the prices that will be charged and the Disney reputation.

Again I hope I am wrong but given the rather generic look of the Poly tower I'm not optimistic at all. Compare the OG Poly with the new one. It's not even close. I don't think anyone can say with a straight face the new one is superior in theme and design unless they prefer a very bland design.

To be clear, I don't think the design itself is "bad". It's very much a product of modern times, though. It lacks any type of immersion at the level I would expect from Disney. Based on many of the current projects, this is (and the sightline issues for the existing resorts) are the main issue.
Yeah, it's not like it's hideous or ugly, but it's very safe, generic and could be found in any city. That's not up to Disney level IMO. It also will destroy the quiet, getaway vibe of Fort Wilderness which is really one of the last places you can go (for now) for a peaceful escape from the chaos. Once that's gone, what's left?

Yes. "Safe" and "familiar" are actually great terms. These new projects are all generally "diet" theme - with a few higher end touches. I think Destino has been the most successful of the group, and it could even use some improvements.
