MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Yet Pandora does use the plot of Avatar, as just like Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge, it’s set in a sequel time period. Satuli Canteen is literally the mess hall from the movie, but some decades in the future. If Avatar didn’t happen, World of Pandora doesn’t narratively exist.

That being said, it really wouldn’t surprise me if they decided that “Piston Peak Rally” was the original race that eventually became the Piston Cup, seeing as how modern NASCAR descended from moonshiners and bootleggers speeding through the mountains of Tennessee and Alabama to evade cops during prohibition.

Plot and setting are not one in the same.

Tatooine can be used in any piece of Star Wars media with any plot you want to throw at it. It existed before Anakin was born, and it continues to exist after the Skywalkers are all dead.

That alternate plan by Perry Becker looks like a great compromise. A fun water ride potentially with indoor dark ride scenes that preserves a river and a substantial presence of water, plus trees and bridges. This was probably done before Splash Mountain became Tiana's Bayou Adventure, so docking the Liberty Belle as a dining spot over by the Tiana turnaround would have been a great plussing of this scheme.

Wonder what that show building up past BTM was for. Kind of a crazy idea, but given how brutal the sun is there, they could have done the town of Radiator Springs as an always-night (neon-lit) indoor area, kind of like Mermaid Lagoon at Tokyo DisneySea, with a RSR that blends indoor dark ride and outdoor sections (though I would rather it be at DHS, given the choice).

Also unrelated the website had some other concept art of unbuilt stuff. One of which being a remodel of the hub at Hollywood Studios

The opening to this video made me sad over losing the rivers all over again, lmao. Just when I thought I was done grieving, he pulls me right back in...

I wanted to point this out:

Brayden's sources are saying the Liberty Belle is safe. Take it with a grain of salt, his sources have been wrong in the past, but I think there's hope for the LB.

I also found it interesting he said there's other fan favorite areas marked for demolition

A comment on the plan showing parking in the laydown yard. The details of the parking spots may just be a formality to show how the area will be used, and not indicating an actual paved parking lot. The plans for the laydown yard for Galaxy's Edge/Toy Story Land, showed this same sort of layout with parking spots, but it remained a gravel lot with some basic indicators of how to park.

My company always dimensions out parking spaces on laydown/parking areas for projects, but we don't actually stripe the lot to match, it's more a gut check to confirm how many vehicles we can fit for onsite crews

He absolutely did. The video was terrific.

I don't believe everything was completely new from his takes, but I think it's the best compilation and argument against the direction they are taking.

I also think he's likely right - that the original plan was to put a clone of RSR beyond BTM, but evolved to the off road rally - as TSI was seemed as a dead land- and integrate Cars IP because they wanted it at WDW.

And the quotes he was able to gather on how Walt felt about the River shook me up a bit to be honest.

I'm optimistic about the changes but the execution needs to be a big payoff:
  1. A D/E attraction worth it's weight,
  2. 2nd attraction for young familes
  3. Integrating beautiful sightlines that's consisent from LS, other parts of FL, etc.
  4. Keeping noise pollution at bay.
I hope they find a way to create a remoteness that Riverboat/TSI had. Where IDK?

I also thought those quotes he pulled out of the Magic Kingdom handbook (?) were great and brought up points that nobody really talks about. That the island was designed to feel remote and feel like a break from the crowds. It was functioning exactly as it was designed and intended.

This is an excellent video! I love how he lays out the historic evidence why there was a river and how even way back then the “so called experts” said how wrong Walt was to waste space on a river that does not provide income and just how wrong those “so called experts” were.

Here we go again. The “so called experts” today at Disney are again saying how the river was a waste of space and is now replacing the river with cars?

Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it..

It's also possible that what was right for 1955 isn't necessarily the best for 2025 - consumer interest change, technology changes, etc

Doesn't mean this specific change is the right choice but just because it was good in 1955 doesn't mean it can't be changed

Beware the person who uses a dead person's words to further their opinion.
Dead guy: "I want my parks to have big rivers"

Acquaintances of dead guy: "Yeah he would never shut up about his rivers"

Some guy on an internet forum: "Idk y'all there's no real proof he wouldn't be against getting rid of the river and if you want to use historical evidence to suggest otherwise that's a little concerning"

They want to sell lightning lanes.

Someone needs to overlay a LL heat map. Cold zones get the demo.

I agree with the 4 points about the execution. I'm more optimistic as I think the benefits are
- Better crowd flow overall, with more land to do things and connects big thunder
- hopefully more nature and shade. Plus I hope the keneticness of the water makes up for a lesser amount of water (ie the new concept art)
- blending in Tianas and Thunder more, frointerland hasn't been a consistent look since Tianas so making it feel more blended could help
- Villians, just villains overall
- a unique area and rides that will separate MK from other parks

Worries:
- Taking away a beloved attraction
- Cars being loud and breaking down
- Less nature/water (ie the OG concept art)
-alienating fans
- other areas need fixed, Rivers didn't (TSI needed only some)
- sightline
