Avengers Campus: E-Watch! (Waiting on the new ride)

When they say work hasn’t started on Flight lab do they mean ground hasn’t been cleared yet for it? I’m guessing the whole Dr. strange sanctum is going for this? It’s probably the most aesthetically pleasing part of AC (not that that’s saying much) but was definitely always the odd man out.

As in the building layout is only for Infinity Defense, and Stark Lab should have a building here too. The sanctum is staying (I'm hoping once the path to Cars Land reopens a version of the Dr Strange show will return). Stark Flight Lab is supposed to be located next to the entrance to Avengers Infinity Defense, both in the expansion pad

Oh thanks I didn’t really notice a layout. It’s all dirt to me haha.

Perhaps it'll be laid out something like this?

The Sanctum is here, or what remains of it:

I think most the backstage / portal area (behind the doors) have been removed, for the new bathrooms they are building.

Hard to tell what has been retained behind the doors, maybe it's still there to be used post bathroom construction:

Oh the sanctum is still there in the concept art. Not sure why I thought it was going away Admittedly, I’m by far the least excited for this of all the new attractions coming to DCA. But still glad it’s coming even if I would have preferred a coaster. Man, an Avengers version of Cosmic Rewind in addition to the Avatar and Coco boat rides would have been crazy.

I think they're saving that one for DCA Forward. It would go perfectly with Black Panther. A Cosmic Rewind with Hip Hop/ Rap, sign me up!

Even still, compares remarkably favourably to Tokyo Disney Sea's mega expansion. A thing domestic fans never thought TWDC would attempt. Let alone in DCA.

Like 1-1 Frozen to Pandora, Avengers to Pan, Coco to Tangled and Tinklebell to Flight lab. Even possibility for upside in some of those comparisons.

I just wish something could be done about the backside of Animation and a little bit more greenery +/- water in the central plaza, I think that's the majority of this lands cosmetic issues.

Oh definitely. If you would have told anyone before last summer that Disney was going to build an Avatar E ticket boat ride, Avengers E ticket and Coco boat ride simultaneously nobody would have believed you. The Coco ride was the real surprise.

Even if not the exact projects we want, I think the amount of investment happening at DLR now is impressive. It really is amazing to think that it wasn't that long ago that we thought Disney was potentially going to just give up and stop investing in Anaheim.

It really is going to be a joy to watch over the course of the next several years on these current projects, and in the upcoming decades as new projects get started and finished.

The Sanctum has only been lightly impacted at the moment with a construction wall added to one side to help block some of the view. It seems the bunker area - the path that led from Campus to Cars Land - though is going. This would be sad as that was a fun bit of historic placemaking with the SSR logo at the entrance.

It's still in the concept art, so I think the bunker area may just move back a little.

I wanted the Avatarland to come, I would rather it be in a different spot.

Walt Disney Imagineering has shared a couple behind-the-scenes photos from the expansion site:

Equipping more guests to become Super Heroes requires equipment! The expansion of Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure Park went vertical this morning with the first steel column lifted into place. New, thrilling attractions will join the campus, doubling its size in the future.

The pace they are going at I wouldn't be surprised if a summer 2027 opening is what they are aiming for. Maybe even a winter 2026 opening to coincide with Doomday opening may not even be out of the question.

With Coco starting later this fall and the ground work for Avatar next spring, we're going to have back-to-back-to-back openings coming pretty quick.

Its a good time to be a DLR fan.
