Ya know it's funny comparing all these hotels to a Marriott when the two actual Marriott hotels on Disney property (the swan and dolphin) look better than the modern Disney hotels like this and the poly tower.
Except for The Cove. Yes I wrote it. I rather it was called The Cove than Swan Reserve. I don't know who built Swan Reserve but it screams Disney Aventura Hotel!

This place is so massive, the MK can not hold all these people that you know are going to be staying there and beelining right for that park. Its not going to be pretty with the strain it will be bring and to the fort and lodge etc, unless it has its specific own boats and busses etc. The Lodge probably has the best bus transportation of any of the resorts, watch them just lump this into that and it no longer be as smooth running or comfortable.

New resorts don’t increase park attendance.

If the blue represents the planned pools and lazy river, sign me up! Maybe a quiet pool overlooking Bay lake, a large lazy river and what looks like a decent sized family pool. Obviously hoping they can theme the pool areas as well but this looks promising to me! Is there a planned splash pad for little ones?
Yes, an interactive water play area is planned. It’s a bit more than a splash pad.

Right now an entire wing of the new tower will enjoy majestic views of the Pioneer Hall service area. Which makes absolutely no sense.

Between this, the new cabins, and the giant new pool area next to the existing Meadows pool, there's no way Ft. Wilderness continues to exist in any recognizable form. I'd expect sweeping changes in the not-too-distant future, including the demolition/relocation of Pioneer Hall (built in the "new" Ft. Wilderness style, whatever that is) and the destruction of any remaining original rustic elements. Sad but the writing's been on the wall for a while now. Sigh.

I sadly agree. I think this is just the beginning and you will see the camping area cut down or moved entirely. Which is sad- I know a lot of people who love the campgrounds but I am willing to bet they spend more time at the campground itself than the parks.

And just like the destruction of the rivers of America - we will be told that we have too much nostalgia and don’t understand that Disney is a business and that nobody actually likes hoop Dee doo.

It's certainly not impossible to fill a new Disney resort on Bay Lake - but pricing with GF/POLY/CR could be 'terribly incorrect' long term. With all that transferring out of SSR/OKW, those rooms are always available at lower rates.

Valid point about MK losing rooms - but I'm not as certain as you that the general public is going to look at this location as a replacement for lost Poly and GF rooms. Many may just stay at other DVC resorts more convenient to other parks.
I find the aversion to OKW and to a lesser extent SSR deeply odd. OKW in particular FEELS like a Disney resort in a way the new towers absolutely don’t. With the Polynesian or this monstrosity or the like, the attraction escapes me - why even bother staying at a Disney hotel?

I don’t mind piping in this one. It’s the only ‘deluxe’ hotel I’ve stayed at Disney that I actively disliked. Strolling around the grounds aside, which was still enjoyable.

I found the refurb quality is poorly holding up. The rooms were pretty battered, worsened by the high cash rate consumption. It felt deeply disconnected (I was shoved in the Carousel). I find externalized hallways the opposite of premium. The transport I felt was very lacking for where I was In the resort. I had an hour wait for a bus leaving MK, not because they were full but because it took that long. It was a hike to get to any amenity. Internalized luggage transfer was not well thought out (I walked my luggage across the resort rather than wait the quoted hour). It’s a resort better serviced by having a car and treating it as your condo and I guess I’ve realized I’m a hotel guy after all.

Now I love, love, love any of their original lodges through DAK and vaguely including the non-lodge Aulani. But Rivieria, for its immense flaws, is an infinitely superior experience to SSR in probably every aspect that I found actually mattered to me. Yea it’s a Euro Westin with a gondola, but I know I like Westin. I guess I don’t like Florida Condo.

I think the membership of DVC has given consistent feedback directly or indirectly that they want to be near amenities and dining and with convenient park access. There’s one (though many) reasons SSR is the least popular option. OKW has its own sub culture and isn’t so terribly sprawling. New membership prefer hotel towers and inevitably that’s who they are selling to.

The same reason location, location, location. The Monorail and Crescent Lake Resorts have distinct advantages that no other hotel can offer, mainly express access to 2 parks.

I can’t see the future, but worth reiterating they are different resorts. Which does not excuse the issues.

I doubt they do much of anything to the Fort in the same way the Martinique pool isn’t at risk from RIV. There isn’t going to be any attempt on Disney’s behalf to make them gel further, for better or worse.
