Tokyo Disneyland Resort Expansion

Yeah USJ is just a highlight reel park, with the exception of Jaws (which I can't imagine has much time left) and the Cool Japan stuff (which really only appeals to kids or weebs).

If you've been to any U.S. Universal park before, there's little reason to visit USJ except for the above.

lol and I should clarify I’m even a “weeb”. 😅

I’ve watched Demon Slayer and Chainsaw man. I’d probably downgrade my recommendation further if I had not.

Nintendo was its main selling point until the others opened, but now I don't see a reason to return until they open Pokemon or whatever is replacing Spider-Man. Unless you're a big coaster fan, the attraction roster isn't anything special for someone with ease of access to Universal Hollywood or Orlando.

If you have a deep love or nostalgia for it, Jaws is the main reason to go to USJ IMO

Anyway... what do you guys think the new Port Discovery ride will be?

Something that has nothing to do with the theme of the land because it's the one they care about the least

The biggest problem with Port Discovery is that when creating the park they didn't do enough to differentiate it from Mysterious Island. It's just a lesser version of the same concept. Should have gone with a different sci-fi aesthetic than Wet Discoveryland in a park that already has a steam punk land elsewhere.

Don’t tell anyone this, but they are almost all bland apart from IOA, Epic and then the partnered self contained lands.

USB I’d define as Frankensonian. USJ is just a studio’s best of with some pretty egregious real world entries. USS was attempted well but has been allowed to backslide. USH makes the best of being a grafted afterthought and USO had its soul ripped out.

But uhm, yes. I like Universal? Just go to Florida and pass on the rest.
I mean I agree with all of this BUT still think USJ is somehow more bland lol

If they stick with the theme of marine life and ocean exploration, I could see them going with something like a trackless version of The Living Seas from Epcot. There's always a chance they'll do IP mandate and bring Pixar to there but hopefully they go with non-IP ride like Mystic Manor, given what they did with Soaring.

So you haven't been - yet you are looking for excuses to my complaints (and countless others judging by online complaints and reviews). Shall i put you down as a hipster ?

Disney Sea is not all that. It's a myth. It's a terrible experience.

I had a much better time, for example, at the smaller Hong Kong park.
Sorry to be a complete contradiction but I had to reply.

I recently spent 5 days at TDR, 2 at TDL and 3 at TDS and even before the end of my first day at TDS I knew it was the best theme park in the world (in my opinion) and nothing that happened over the following 2 days did anything except to cement that.

I started my trip at HKDL and found it nothing but a disappointment. In retrospect I have given it the benefit of the doubt as I think it was lacking in entertainment in preparation for the 20th but it currently ranks in the low tier Disney parks for me.

Be warned, you may be called a hipster now.

Although in my experience, hipsters want nothing to do with a Disney theme park and are typically found in coffee shops sipping espresso and reading a book they thrifted, or brewing kombucha at home.

Real hipsters only like Hong Kong Disneyland, and only ironically and only until that park finally breaks out for real.

Can you expand on this? I was under the impression that unless you were lucky enough to qualify for Happy 15, you basically weren't getting in a second before official park opening time.

That was certainly my experience during my two visits to TDR.
The parks regularly let in guests prior to the official posted opening time. Not just Happy 15 guests. Most attractions don't begin operating until park open however.

I believe it’s kinda given away by the time issued to Happy 15 guests. Is their ticket says 8:45, park will let in regular guests at 9am. If the happy 15 says 8:30 one day, they’ll let regular guests in at 8:45.

I assume they base it off expected attendance.

Just a random insult to people who happen to disagree with you.

Google earth updated the 3D imagery of TDR, now we can see her space mountains from every angle
