Any initial subjective reviews of this parade anyone can share? Has this increased attendance?

Curious about that to. It would seem most die hards would prefer MSEP to return and Starlight be put back on the drawing board lol. I doubt that would ever happen though and for more reasons than one.

I’m curious to see what’s going to happen when lights start not working and need to be replaced.
Hopefully not for a few years, the LEDs used in starlight are sealed & non replaceable for reliability unlike MSEP & Spectro where most could be replaced. If one of them burns out they'll have to cut & rewire a new light or just replace the whole string.

There's no backup to my statement, but the speedy pacing and stripping down of ground units feels like the most that park ops is able to do about this parade in the name of crowd control. which is a shame, because after listening to the soundtrack, there's so much potential if you were to let it drag out further
I really don’t see park ops making that suggestion / that actually impacting the deliverable

There are showtimes listed for August 19th but not August 20th… August 19th is MNSSHP, August 20th isn’t… do we think this is a mistake? As someone who is visiting on August 20th, I sure hope so!

I don’t think this forum in general is the best gauge of public opinion.
Probably not. But both Blog Mickey and Corless had criticisms of the parade that were in line with what I've read here. Tourist Blog was higher on it but still noted the issues of it being sparse. I'm sure there are rave reviews out there but I've always found those websites to be fair. I'm still looking forward to checking it out in person soon.

Tom is great at finding the balance of praise and criticism at Disney Parks.

One thing I’ll mention - often the most memorable parts of a parade are not the floats. The undertakers with shovels in the Halloween parade, the toy soldiers marching in the Christmas parade…. Starlight has none of that.

As lovely as spectro was… my favorite part was the fish for some reason. Likewise, the snail and turtle are often what people remember from Main Street electric.

So the issue with starlight isn’t the overall design of the floats (except for frozen…. Marilyn “Elsa” Monroe ain’t working).

I agree fully. The only part of Starlight that might be memorable, and likely Disneys intention, is “Whimsy”. Other than that Starlight doesn’t have those highlights or special parts.

You must be mistaken. I have it on good authority that all v/blogs are 'on the take' with Disney and merely shills. Or, they're afraid to make any criticisms for fear of not being invited to any cupcake previews.

Don't forget the two lightning bugs that played music and the centipede.

The lightning bugs and centipede deserves as much attention as the snails and turtles.

MSEP and previous electrical parades having smaller floats and live characters between sections made their parades feel much more longer and lifelike. Starlight lacking live Disney Characters and small floats really makes the gaps and shorter length feel much more notable. While PTN is also short, at least it had a few small floats (such as the Little Green Men's ship) and Genie, Lumiere, and Tigger puppets which was reused from World of Color's premiere.

Well there has to be SOME explanation for good reviews. Can’t be that Disney did something right.

Agreed. And for that matter, I don’t think the comments of people commenting on social media sites can give an accurate impression of general sentiment either. Many of those folks that tag every friend and say “Susie Q did you see this? We have to go now!!!!” are apt to like anything and everything

The parade was delayed another 15 minutes tonight, this time because of the weather. The lightning is still intense, and I'm surprised they are still going ahead.

I know about the Lightning within 10 miles Rule, but it seems a lot closer than 10 miles to me. Then again, I’m not a meteorologist, and I understand they wouldn't chance it if it was unsafe. There is still a pretty decent crowd that stayed, hoping it would start
