That didn’t take long

By opening a new land 5 years+ after Epic’s opening?

They’d started digging before they cancelled Main St Theatre.

They tore down Innoventions West before replacing it with something that tries to look vaguely similar.

There’s no way Villains Land can be considered “guaranteed” at this point.
It’s definitely happening. We can just bookmark this thread and then circle back to it.

Have they ever failed to follow through on something as major as a new land? Is there any reason to think this won’t happen?
No specific reason, no. And I’m not saying it won’t happen. I just don’t think anyone can be 100% certain it will.

Wasn’t AK supposed to include mythical beasts in its original concept? At a push maybe Pandora fits.

But I also think both projects I mentioned were pretty significant. They were part of planned developments announced with great fanfare at D23.

Plus, since you didn’t specify WDW in your question, DLP announced Star Wars Land at the Studios park. That was cancelled.

If only they had somewhere for the Cars IP project where it’d be appropriate to be built.
I agree with you. I don’t like the location at all. I may be different than most people, though, in the sense that I go to a theme park just to have fun. I don’t spend all my time walking around, staring at the different lands and lamenting how one doesn’t mesh perfectly with the other. That’s probably just me, though.

I don’t think Disney is really sweating Epic Universe but I also think they know they have to put in some expansions in the current environment. (I gotta say, in reading that article, I was surprised to see just how high the margins are for Disney and Universal. I assumed operating costs took up quite a bit more.) I think they are in a real growth period right now and know they need to be (if Universal comes out with a Wicked land in addition to Epic and the Potter Worlds, they would really start picking up steam, I think.)

Villains just seems like an obvious start in terms of adding something exciting, new, and culturally relevant. Also the merch in that area will just be a money printing machine, around Halloween especially.

Disney doesn't sweat anything because they literally don't care about their shareholders or if they lose money. They have something else they care about more.

What do they care about more than their shareholders? Do you mean their customers because I don’t think too many people would agree.
Definitely not shareholders or customers. I actually don't know what they care about but it's neither of those.

They probably care about their own hubris first and they are so rich already, the money they'd get from running the company well no longer matters.
