If Villains goes anywhere, they’d probably move it to the land when it opens.
Why move it to Villains Land? I am sure (and hopeful) that this show will not fit the tone of what they will be building in the Magic Kingdom....and by the time Villains Land opens, why would they want to build a new theater for a 6 year old show that will be well past it's prime in DHS?

It really depends how popular it is.

I don't think any show would be that popular....Certainly not the current Villains show... It's OK, but I am sure they would want something fresh and new to match the style and timbre of the new land... not something dragged over from another park that has already been seen by a million people....

I'll be curious on the GSAT scores.

Feel like I've observed an overall popular reaction to the show on social media. Cleary, this forum's opinion is not the best place to evaluate if a show is successful or not with the public.

My spider sense tells me it's enjoyed and an improvement over the previous show. But it's not beloved that would make it a permanent thing.

Because it missed the cruise line it should have been on the first place.

Regardless @lentesta indicated that something Muppets related will go in that theatre at some point. Will it be MV3D? 🤷‍♂️ As for the current Villains show, there is no way of knowing what will happen. It could just end. We don't really know what's going in Villains Land and whether this show would even fit thematically there. For now, I think they just needed something to absorb guest traffic in the park while Muppets Courtyard was closed for Monster, Inc. retheme.

This type of work seems more 'permanent' than temporary.

Retheming the outside of the building, including re-adding a previous park icon, updating the courtyard, new exhibits inside, this doesn't seem like something they would want to rip apart in a couple of years again. It's not a major project by any stretch, but it seems pretty counterintutive to revist the space within a few years.

I mean 5 years from now, could they bulldoze it all and the office buildings behind it? Sure.

They have plenty of significant investments underway domestically. While this is minor compared to the others, this is a huge win for the space.
I know this is unlikely especially considering where MMRR is but I loved one person's idea that this could be used as an entrance eventually into a Toon-Town esque land with Roger Rabbit and some other smaller classic ToonTown attractions. I think it could still make sense with MMRR as its fairly close to this area. I think some effects around the area could make it kinda usher in a new ToonTown, and I still think this space is big enough to put another maybe Superhero themed land on the back of it. (or Superheros replace Echo Lake)

All that “big” work at studios in 2015-2019?

…yeah they fired their shot there. Never expect there to be a lot more than that.

The fact they’re are actually moving dirt in the monsters Inc thing is a major win for customers (even though it likely turns out to be a swap)…let’s not jinx it by speculation on “what’s next”

Take what you can get and trust only the shovels

Wall-E too. This is a ton of IP integration at Epcot which will bother too many folks around here.
Except… those two together at that pavilion makes sense. I doubt that almost anyone would be up in arms if they finally revived that pavilion around those two (except those around here who like to make up faux outrage from others and make outlandish statements accusing others of being against things they’ve never been against).

Wall-E, IMHO, would be better suited elsewhere, just haven’t thought fully about where.

I tend to agree that this overhaul seems like a placeholder project, intended to last until the later years of the 10-year, $60 billion investment plan (with $17 billion earmarked for WDW). That said, there's still plenty of land for Imagineering to work with, even if the 1989 animation building remains intact for the long term.

The areas highlighted below conceivably could form a new land/path from TSL over to Sunset Blvd.

Red area (Animation Expansion Office and surrounding back-of-house structures) = 7.3 acres
Blue area (parking garage and adjacent circulation) = 2.0 acres
Purple area (Walt Disney Presents and TSL access path) = 1.44 acres

View attachment 872434

So with the parking garage gone you're looking at 10.47 acres to work with. 8.47 if the garage has to stay.

On average, attraction space usually takes up roughly 40-60% of a land's area. The rest is paths, restaurants, shops, etc.

For simplicity, let's say 50% of this redeveloped land is given to attractions, we're looking at 4.23 to 5.23 acres.

As a frame of reference, 4.23 acres would be enough space for attractions similar in size to It's a Small World, Frozen Ever After, and Star Tours to coexist.

The point is, Imagineering still has viable options on this side of the park—regardless of how long this new/returning attraction is expected to last.
The animation building and especially the garage are not getting utilized for any DHS studios soon or any phase 2 plan.

I wonder what they are going to do with the character meet and greets here? They had the 4 characters in the courtyard (Pluto, Vampirina, Fancy Nancy and Doc McStuffins), then with Cool Kids Summer (Pluto, Clarabelle, Donald and Daisy(?), Disney Junior Dance Party (Mickey, Timon, Doc and Vampirina) and Star Wars Launch Bay (Chewbacca, BB8 and Darth Vader 2x with Disney Visa Card meet). I’d assume in the mean time that there will be several pop up meets around the park? They use to have new movie characters meeting in the Animation Building. I know they have done some in One Man’s Dream with live action Ariel still meeting in that place. Hopefully they’ll use many of the characters featured on the poster to make for a more diverse selection of character interactions! Move BB8 and Chewbacca into Galaxy’s Edge. Vader a new dedicated spot by Star Tours.
Just to add, the kids area being themed to classic Alice in Wonderland is a pleasant surprise!
