MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Just observe what happens when venues are mobile ordering only. There is typically a crowd of people milling about outside waiting for their order to be ready so they can be allowed inside.

But the big question is should a theme park visit have to be something that everyone has to rather meticulously plan out in order to enjoy? We’re the guest. Why is the onus on us to know the optimal way to order a meal? Shouldn’t the capacity just be readily available whether it is a restaurant or attractions? Exploration can be a rich port of themed experience but it is one that too many theme parks try to thwart.
You can still order at the register if you prefer. Mobile ordering seems so much simpler to us.

Joe Rohde has a brilliant set of posts on instagram talking about “intuitive navigation” - it’s about a proposed modern condo building in Santa Barbara but much of it applies to this expansion. He touches on many of the same themes including “your just defending nostalgia”
I saw that post of his, and immediately contrasted it to Disney's current bought of being clueless.

Agree.

Although even when this was in place, I was still able to order at a register, just told the CMs at the door, that I was paying cash.
There were times Cast Members would be much stricter and argumentative about people wanting to order at a register. But also, the abandonment of mobile order only should be a bit telling that it didn’t create any sort of great efficiency.

And its a turn off that you have to go through red tape first by telling a cast member you want to come in and order and eat, you shouldn't have to do that, never use to had to. They have stationed too many wall blocks and permission points everywhere that it has zapped the fun out of it. Had to go through at least 3 or 4 cast asking permission the other night just to buy a bottle water off to the side after the parade when leaving main street, they wanted no one veering out of their exit line.

Where are you eating that this is happening?

What does keeping the option tell you? There was no mandate until the pandemic.

I can’t believe people favor a system where you wait in line for 30 minutes and then can’t find a table because the 10 families behind you are taking up the tables waiting for food.

I guess Disney should have a table for 10 open for us at every QS restaurant in MK since “capacity.”

Again, you are jumping at the idea that people hate mobile ordering for saying it doesn't add capacity. They are not the same. I can sit here and say it works well for some people and not for others, and it's fine as an option.

BUT, funny enough, you are getting to the idea most are saying. There should not be 30 minute waits for QS, there should be enough places around the park with enough people working that this is never the case. There are not enough QS (or food places in general) for a park the size of MK.

If mobile order offered the claimed capacity gains then they would and should have kept mobile order only.
As can be seen from the posts above there are situations that call for - or people who prefer - ordering at a register. Disney is accommodating them.

If mobile ordering did not offer any advantage to either Disney or the guests, then they would and should have kept ordering at registers only.
