DHS What should they do with Animation Courtyard?

I’ve heard that one short-term concept here is to replace Launch Bay with …

Stop me if you’ve heard this before

… a series of walk-thru exhibits about Disney animation.

Which, okay, is relatively straightforward and inexpensive. They could use it to promote tons of upcoming projects. Meets the synergy goal.

If that’s the case, I think they should play it like a “buddy movie”. Cast a comedian who doesn’t understand animation and someone really strait-laced to explain it. I’m pretty sure I could have a script ready in a couple hours.

I know who's working on this. I don't think it's a permanent thing - it's a placeholder while they figure out Phase 2.

Moderately surprised that Disney Junior is closing for this too. That's a decent amount of lost capacity. I need to understand what's going on there.

This seems like a lot of effort to go though for not a permanent thing. I bet this lasts at least 5-6 years. We are even losing the arch for it.

It's getting replaced by another Disney Junior show, right?
"This special nod to the legendary Walt Disney Studios Lot includes our version of the Studio Theater, which will continue to house “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure,” and over at the soundstage, you’ll find a fresh Disney Jr. show."

So whatever is phase 2 will be into the early 2030's then...if even.

It's a shame this company can't do anything dynamically.

Seems like that whole area of HS is in permanent placeholder mode. I can't think of anything of any real significant worth that's been there since the closure of the backlot tour, everything has felt like a temporary placeholder until someone found some cash to finally level that entire section of the park and start over.

I like this for a temp thing, but as someone who harps on capacity at 3 of the parks, you hit on my big question with the Disney Junior closing.

Pleasantly surprised by this! I think this is a great direction to go to freshen up the area, give guests something relatively new to experience, and allow them time to figure out the a great long term solution as well.

Bravo for going the overall animation route! I think as far as temporary attractions go, they hit the nail on the head here.

I wonder if going into the “cooler” months we see an outdoor dance party type thing pop up somewhere to try to offset DisneyJr.

Even if just a placeholder I think it’ll bring a great refresh to this area that has been dying for so long.
