Figment 4.0!
Coming:
Mid 2000’s
2015
With the Epcot redo!
2022
2024

To quote bullwinkle j moose:
“This time for sure!”
In all legitimacy: I can’t believe I’m saying this AGAIN, but with the SSE refurb, lens comments about figment plans being shopped to contractors and third parties, and igers figment comments earlier this year, not ruling it out.

Still not fully confident on this year however. Need more smoke.

My one hope is that we get an opening date for Disney Adventure World, and not just another video of Frozen construction.
In general I'm only expecting update announcements on already existing projects, unless a small-scale project gets announced on the same scale of Test Track update or Pirates Lounge

I would like that too - we are travelling there in February and while I don't expect it (Frozen area) to be open, I would like to know for sure

Ha, let it be known I am not the boy who cried Figment. I think this is the first time I’ve really ever thought it was semi imminent in my posting history.

The other major factors swaying me is lightening lane monetization, their Turbocharging mantra, their current exec and inside out 2. With a splash of Epcot being oddly absent for any investment In the next five years cycle.

I do wonder if Epcot isn't set to receive any "new" attractions (new ride systems etc.) in the next 5 years, but ride updates like we saw with Test Track. I can think of Figment, Spaceship Earth and Reflections of China (Whatever happened to the Wondrous China footage?) getting updated over the next five years before any major new attractions at the park

i think this is the current plan. just refreshing rides in time for the 50th. i think thats the best course of action for right now

Exactly, I think that’s how they tackle Epcot. Which makes an Epcot announcement the most probable.

Slight runner up to a DAK night show, since the entertainment team could certainly use a new project.

I think a DAK night show comes when tropical Americas opens and there is almost a "relaunch" of the park

I definitely think some other ride update will come - be it announced at DD23 or some other time

But they did TT, are doing Big Thunder, about to start Buzz, I think something of that level comes after Buzz. Could be Imagination, could be Space Mountain, or something else, but do think something is coming

Man, what I would do for them to reopen Wonders of Life with Inside Out + Big Hero 6 as a health pavilion with both mental and physical health. Get Advent Health on it since they seem to slap their name all over anyway

I mean Figment is definitely happening at some point.

It’s just a matter of when.

It is an insanely popular character and is so essential to the park’s branding and merchandising.

The amount of people with Figment merch today was crazy.

They just haven’t updated it yet because they’ve felt they could be cheap and kick the can down the road as long as possible, but it’s been on the radar for a long time.

I’ve been saying this for sometime now. The 10 year spend for WDW had talked about and discussed on the boards ever since the turbocharging was announced. The first 5 years has Cars and Villians lands coming to MK, Monsters coming to DHS, Tropical Americas coming to DAK. Honorable mentions for the Zootopia show at the ToL, Starlight parade at MK and Muppets Coaster refurb at DHS. And to be fair, Josh D. called these expansions at D23 when they are really large scale refurbs for the most part.

What will the next 5 years entail? Animation Courtyard has been rumored to be getting something. And I’m still holding out hope for Moana at Adventureland. I know that would be a lot for MK but it makes so much sense. I believe DAK is still targeted for another attraction in Harambe, as well as a new night time show to return DAK to a full time park again.

EPCOT though, that is where I am expecting more announcements. I continue to be bullish on refurbs for Imagination and SSE to line up for EPCOT’s 50th. Would be a great way for the new CEO to make some big announcements, especially with some of what they did to the center of Future World. Some bad choices were made. A redo of two big attractions in this park would be fantastic.

I think figment is insanely popular with park fans. But I don't think he's popular at all with the population at large.

There's a pretty decent chance this is why we haven't seen anything yet. It probably makes the most sense for park ops and the bottom line to gut the ride and go in a different direction.

But how can you replace Figment?

This makes the most sense for that pavilion. I can only assume that Disney sees this as well and likes the idea (they definitely want more Inside Out representation in the parks), but haven't come up with anything good enough. My guess is it'll premier for EPCOT's 50th.

I mean inside out can be a different version of Cranium Command and Big Hero 6 could have a similar system to Body Wars in order to maintain the same amount of space.

My idea for a Big Hero 6 ride is that Hiro invented a new mobile flying ambulance that can assist Baymax with "emergencies" but would like someone to ride it around to test out the idea first. Baymax is sent to go find emergencies with the new ability to call in the ambulance but he begins calling "emergencies" for fairly minor things. Something something, causes the ambulance to go off route/takes off the autopilot for the fun little problem of the ride as Baymax and Hiro suit up in their superhero designs to save you (could include the rest of the cast too if you want)

Mostly a fun fast paced ride through San Fransokyo.

My dream for MK to take it from my 3rd favorite to possibly my favorite would be Moana + Coco in the current expansion plots (One for Adventureland, One from Frontierland). MK doesn't need all that in 10 years but.. man if it did.
