EVERYTHING. They have made several changes and are now making another instead of letting it be. It does not need a new verse. I don't care who wrote it. Its a finished ride. Like a movie, once ite released and out it belongs to the people and the ages and not Disney's anymore.
New versions of movies with new scenes and stuff added that had been removed or planned but not included happen all the time. Director's cuts, extended editions, etc.

You're melting down over a single new verse that came from the same hands that wrote all of the other verses. This isn't some random dude throwing on some random little tag, it's something one of the original creators of the attraction made with the intention of it seeing daylight.

As of today, it is confirmed that:
1.) WDW will also debut the third verse on their IASW on July 17th.
2.) Both US versions of the ride will have the third verse play in the finale room.

I don’t know maybe I’m jaded but I just find these parks blog posts where they go into the rich history of the parks and its attractions to be BS now when you see how easily they’re willing to throw some of these classic attractions away. Today we’re talking Sherman Bros and in 10 years we’ll be talking about a Frozen land is going there. I just can’t read them the same way anymore. Granted the ROA at MK isn’t quite the same as the ROA at DL but this isn’t the first time.

I get what you're saying in general, but I don't see them throwing away IASW, which is probably the third most famous Disney attraction and one of the most efficient attractions out there to boot as well.

I hope you’re right and you probably are. I dunno - it all makes me very cynical.

additionally:

the listing for the vinyl release on disney music emporium includes pictures of the sleeve and if you zoooooom in you can see the credits - it seems the only addition to the existing soundtrack will be the new verse vocals, everything else will remain unchanged

the new verse will be replacing the first verse ("it's a world of laughter, a world of tears" etc) in the finale room based on the included lyrics

also, the vinyl and digital releases will be the same lengthwise as the existing 5:04 mix but with the addition of the new vocals (as per the length indicated as part of the vinyl release)

If true, then the adult vocals on the final chorus theoretically stay put-so unless the new vocals are jarringly obnoxious or something, this should be a win-win.

The ride is at every single castle park save Shanghai, other then a castle itself that is at every resort it the train and Space Mountain are the only attractions replicated at 5 different resorts.

*Pirates Shanghai, Mystic Manor, and Big Grizzly while inspired by other attractions I don’t view as the same thing and are different enough not to be considered copies.

I do find it funny that the only attractions that could be found at all 6 castle parks are Dumbo, a Carousel and at one point Buzz Lightyear (now a Buzz Lightyear or ride system with an overlay thanks to Hong Kong and Tokyo)

Really hoping they don’t botch this. I find Small World’s finale very charming as is; the music feels triumphant.

WDI, I know you love endlessly (/needlessly) tweaking attractions. Might I suggest taking a look over at Pooh or Pinocchio or Autopia or Nemo or Tom Sawyer Island or Little Mermaid the next time you get the urge.

I feel like Autopia is set up to have such a great Christmas overlay. Imagine if they strung Christmas lights and ornaments all over those trees with projections and snow machines. Maybe some makeshift light tunnels. Play some Christmas music throughout the ride and sell some Hot cocoa outside. It should be like the Christmas version of Villains Grove on wheels. Bring just a little taste of that mid century Christmas music they play at DCA over to DL.

Substitute TSO and you have what MK does to the speedway for MVMCP.

TSO? Oh really, I had no idea. All the more puzzling that they haven't done this at DL yet. Especially considering that Autopia is so much better set up for a Christmas overlay than the TL Speedway.

Fantastic idea. Why aren’t there Autopia overlays year-round? I’m not super precious about Autopia and think it could be plussed-up a lot — if they’re never going to actually invest in making the ride more beautiful or futuristic-looking (let alone updating the infrastructure), at the very least they could add some extra value for Halloween or Christmas.
