Ok so you admit Walt looks terrible then? Which of the two do you think looks more terrible?

Where did I say that the Walt's face looked good? I think you have me confused with another poster.

I think both look equally terrible, in that they don't resemble their respective human counterparts enough.

You didn’t. You’ve just been kind of quiet and have spent more time critiquing Jack Sparrow and Trump AA faces on this thread then you have Walt- which if I’m not mistaken up until now was no comment on Walt’s face.

But when you said Trump looks terrible I could only logically assume that you think Walt looks terrible too.

Maybe you missed my post from Monday, but I said basically said that other than the face (which had been discussed for many pages already at that point) that the rest of the AA was an advancement of the technology. Which I still feel the same today. The face yes is terrible, in that it doesn't look enough like Walt when viewed close-up, just like Trump (and again I say that as someone that don't like the man so you think I would happy with a bad looking face sculpt, but no I'd rather have one that looks good). In context of the show maybe Walt does not look as bad, and I'll be seeing it Friday as I'll be in the Park and will hopefully be able to snag a VQ (which I don't think will be an issue with as many shows play throughout the day.

Here’s perhaps the best way I can put this.

The new Walt Disney AA looks like Walt Disney in the same way Trump 1.0 looked like Trump in terms of likeness. In other words, pretty off. I’m hoping Walt gets at the very least a Trump 2.0 level upgrade.

Right so in other words you completely glossed over Walt’s face but spent two paragraphs critiquing a Jack Sparrow AA from 20 years ago.

No, I didn't gloss over it, I just didn't have anything to add to the discussion that wasn't already said, and just acknowledge that it was an issue and if you go back to the post I said hopefully it can be improved in the future. I didn't think I needed to expand upon it beyond that.

But now that I have you know where I stand.

Ok. Just clearing up the confusion. You thought I had you confused with another poster. Just laying out why I may have been confused on where you stood.

While not an "excuse", you can explain away 1.0 Trump as thinking designing around Hillary first then eventually getting Trump right. We can certainly hope for a better 2.0 Walt but clearly the founder of the Walt Disney Company deserved and expected nothing less than the best likeness from the start.

Right. The only “excuse” you might be able to give them with Walt is that they need that particular more round mold for whatever is going underneath. But if that’s the case and they knew he’d look like this that should have been a non starter. But we can see that there are some things that there is just no good excuse for. Bad artistic choices. Like there is no good excuse for those eyebrows. There is no good excuse to look at this uncanny valley scary eyes twinkling in the dark and decide you’re going to move forward with them.

I will add that I do think we're being hypercritical here, as we always are. And that as I mentioned before in the context of the show it may work better when seen in person rather than video or stills we're all commenting on. So this is why I said I'll be seeing it Friday. Maybe my opinion will change, or maybe it'll remain the same. But overall like with Jack we probably just have to suspend disbelief and just go with it.

Id like to share your optimism but I don't see it. You could think "well maybe the video portion will be good" but then you have Igers voice mucking that up. Or "ok so Walt doesn't look perfect, if I sit far enough back in person it'll hardly matter. But wait, they didn't get his voice right either."

I don't have an issue with Iger, nor do I have an issue with Walt's voice. So those aren't part of the equation for me, its only the face. So if the face works in the context of the show, or can be viewed through a suspension of disbelief like Jack then I can work with it. For example I don't think that Jack sounds like Depp enough either, which is funny because I think he actually recorded the lines. So maybe its an issue with the audio systems used in the attractions that is causing the audio to sound off to people.
