Do you have any Disney opinions that you feel differ to many on here?

True fandom is an easy explanation. If both parties love Disney, like I once did, then proposing there in front of all those people (and the Castle) is not only romantic, but requires a whole lot of courage. The party receiving the proposal could say no! How embarrassing would that be? However, I don't think anyone would attempt it unless they were almost completely certain there would be a positive answer. The wedding chapel, at least at one time, used to be a very popular, albeit very expensive, place to get married. It probably still is but I haven't heard much about it lately.

There are a few people that make their proposal at Disney and millions that find some other place. My thought is that Disney is a much more unique location than the restaurants that most people decide to propose in. That or random places using the occasional conversation starter... "you're gonna have a what"! 😰
yes! don’t get me wrong, like i said if both parties are big fans of disney, have always wanted a proposal like that, etc. go for it. who am i to judge? that’d be a really special moment for them.

but i don’t think it’d be wise to surprise your SO by doing it while on a trip to Disney if they aren’t Disney fans or don’t have that much interest in theme parks. i feel like that could backfire.

The only problem I could see with a Disney marriage proposal is if someone says no. I would be very embarrassed if my partner said no especially because they tend to draw a crowd. I guess the lesson here is that you should be as sure as you possibly can be that your significant other will say yes.

Yup, one either has to have had enough hinted conversations with their partner to be sure of the answer or they have to have an ego the size of Alaska and just know that everyone would be willing to marry them. Either way, I would never take that chance.

Oh boy. Here we go, this is going to be a doozy.

1. I do not care about ROA or TSI, not one bit. Not a single bone within me. Neither does my entire family. Their reaction was "what's that?" and then when I explained it to them, they asked if they were supposed to care.

2. I've liked EVERY single recent retheme over the original attraction. I do mean every single one of them. I just returned from a Disney trip literally about 2 days ago and this still holds up.

3. Maelstrom and Test Track 1.0 were not that good. I feel like nostalgia clouds these two attractions and I just don't like the look of them tbh. I know this one is super controversial so...

4. I'm super excited for Muppets RNRC, so much so that when I found out about it, I called up my fiance and starting singing the Muppets theme song.

5. All of the parks still have a cohesive theme imo. Magic Kingdom's is still about a world of yesterday, fantasy, and tomorrow. EPCOT is about the human connection and how we just as alike (World Celebration, World Discovery, World Nature) as we are different (World Showcase). Hollywood Studios starts as an idealized view of Hollywood, then lets you "enter the movie" for major Disney blockbusters. This is even better shown with MMRR as that is literally the idea for the anchor attraction in the park. Animal Kingdom is still about animals and our connection to them/nature as a whole.

6. To me, atleast, there's still a huge reason that Disney is the top. I was lucky enough to be able to go to both Disney and Universal and I had a much better time at Disney. While Universal is nice, they are missing a lot of the extras that really entice me. I was 100% also treated much better at Disney by the castmembers (I always try to be a very nice person and I got the chance to talk to a lot of them) They definitely do help make the magic and I did not have an unpleasant experience with anyone there. Universal's teammembers were nice enough but I could definitely see a difference and joked about it multiple times on my trip.

I think the one thing that I carry as an opinion that differs with many here is the fact that Walt Disney World is not a disaster, that it’s still amazing in so many different ways, and that the so called “ good ole days” are not infinitely better than what we have now. We’ve lost things and things have changed but I’m still there with a dopey grin on my face from the moment I’m driven through the arch until the moment I leave and I’ve been doing this a while now.

1) I'm not crazy about rides/attractions where you have an experience, then you wait in line for the next part, then wait again for more. I'm looking at you ROTR.

2) (This is just a ME thing, don't take offense.) I, me personally, cannot understand how adults want to wait in line to talk to a minimum wage worker in a costume.

3) There's no table service restaurant in Epcot I want to eat dinner at.

4) I found Magical Express neither.

5) The thing I miss the most is the Norway movie.

There are a lot of people like you. You go strictly for the attractions and that is OK, but many of us combined attractions with atmosphere. I also don't have a dog in the TSI fight, but the scenic atmosphere of that particular area, being a part of the RoA is very important to my, at least, feeling of relaxation and enjoyment of a Disney Theme Park. If all I wanted was a 2 minute ride there are a whole lot of far less expensive places to go.

Personally, I haven't set foot on TSI since the 1980's when my kids were young. I won't miss it at all, some will, but apparently not enough to warrant saving it. But that scene from the Adventureland side with the wide corner of the river with the background of the mill, Haunted Mansion and Thunder Mtn. and the Riverboat was something I could have looked at all day.

Oh I love atmosphere too. I just don't care for the river in general. I think the replacement can look as good or better imo

Don't forget that at some point your experience will be your good ole days and if your lucky nothing will be different than you see it now. I hope that for you, but I truly don't believe it will be. Please don't tell me that my "good ole days" weren't better, I lived them. I know the feeling that those parks projected when I started going their and I can plainly see what is offered now. Not in the sense of attractions, but in the sense of equal availability to all that go to that happy place. The joy and easy fun. It was a different time, but I didn't go there yearly for almost 40 years and stop when it became more work to go to WDW than it was to just keep working and saving the money. I know the requirements now are great for people that love to plan, but for those of us that just loved to go, ride some rides, soak in some atmosphere and be amazed all day long it is no longer the place that I want to be. It just isn't the same thing. Whether or not you believe it doesn't change that fact for me.

I am hoping you are correct, but in recent years many of the so called, improvements have been lacking. I think Cars is a great addition, certainly better than TSI, but I just dread the loss of that great spot. I've never been a Villains fan, but I know there are a lot out there, so that should be good too. Also with all the land that there is available in WDW nothing really needed to be removed especially the landscape.
