Taking off shoes is going away at some airports

The change appears to be a phased approach, sources said, and the first airports where the no-shoes requirement is expiring include Baltimore/Washington International Airport, Fort Lauderdale International Airport, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, Portland International Airport, Philadelphia International Airport and Piedmont Triad International Airport in North Carolina.

In a move that seems related (but I hadn't seen elsewhere), many larger U.S. airports also do not require you to remove larger electronics from your bags (which was nice for us coming from Dallas two weeks ago because all of our kids had their tablets stuffed in their carryon with tons of other blankets and whatnot). This combined with letting us keep shoes on should help lines at airport security move a bit faster.

It's been that way for at least a year, if not longer.
