Where in the World Isn't Bob Saget?

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Ooooh, the version with Kate Winslet and Emma Thompson? I love Jane Austen. P&P is my favorite, but S&S is next. P&P is one of my go-to comfort reads when I need an escape. I can't count the number of times I've read it. S&S I've probably only read 3 or 4 times. The book is better than the movie, but sometimes you just need a quick fix.
Yes. And Hugh Grant. 💗

My go to escape book is something I first read while in high school and have reread it numerous times. The title is "Wind from the Carolinas" by Robert Wilder.

It's a story starting in the 1700's about a wealthy Plantation owner in So. Carolina. He was a British Loyalist that didn't agree with the ideology of separating from Royal Rule. Packed up everything, and I mean everything, including dismantling his large southern mansion brick by brick and moving it all to Great Exuma Island in the Bahama's. It covers a number of generations and what happened to his wealth, his family and then back in Charleston many decades later.

I am transported to the Bahama's as I read the book. Keep in mind that it isn't a glamor story. It is sad in many ways in spite of many successes and equally as many disasters. It's hard to describe but it is one of the only books that drew me into it and all these years I've kept it (even though I had to find it again on eBay years ago because my original copy was falling apart).

While you were sleeping we spent Tuesday afternoon at Tangcity Mall. By the time many of you see this, I'll be asleep. It's weird being 11 hours ahead of the east coast of America.
Interesting how you can live in our future but at the same time physically. It would be nice if you could warn us 11 hours ahead of what crazy thing is going to happen here 11 hours from now. Yeah, I know... it doesn't work that way, but it would be nice if we could get some advance warning.

It reminds me of when the verdict in the OJ trial was being announced. The trial was in California and it was announced that it would happen at 1pm California time, I think, and then saying 4pm eastern time*. One of the people I worked with at the time was raging because she didn't know why California could learn about it 3 hours before we did. It took forever to finally convince her that 1pm Pacific was exactly the same moment as 4pm Eastern. I'm still shaking my head about that.

*I don't remember the exact times, but you get the basic thing I'm trying to say!

I gave a heart emoji because I loved your post...yet your colleague story relating to the OJ verdict made me laugh. It is 8:43pm as I hit "Post Reply".
