How does Disney handle ride violators in Living With the Land

When somebody gets out of the boat on Living With the Land, how does Disney security deal with it?

Last week, on the boat in front of us, a person dropped their cell phone in the water in the tunnel just before you enter the greenhouse. Somebody in their party (a guy) who had on an Aladdin vest and fez, got out of their boat, ran across the sand, leaned over to get phone out of the water, and promptly fell, full body, in the water. He got the phone, got out of the water, ran back across about 20 feet of greenhouse sand, and got back in the last seat of the boat.

The ride then paused and restarted a number of times, and the narration was off for the rest of the ride. We saw security walking around, especially though the aquaculture tunnel.

The guy, somewhere along the line, took off his fez and vest, leaving just his white T-shirt.

He stayed on the boat, and got off at unload, and casually walked, dripping wet, with the rest of his party, off the attraction and into The Land.

The removal of his vest and hat was hardly a crafty disguise. We thought that security would be there to escort him off at unload, but he just walked away.

Does WDW track people and pull them aside in a less crowded place, maybe not to make a scene? I would think Living With the Land unload is pretty away from the crowds, and everybody around at the time saw what happened and would know what was going on.

I doubt they just let this person walk off.

With all the cameras, even though he left the ride, I would imagine they have everything they needed to catch up with him in the park…maybe they didn’t want to make a scene right there?
If he’s dripping wet, it’s kinda hard to hide that fact…hey, at least he didn’t steal a cucumber…

While I’m not excusing this behavior at all - in my experience Disney has a terrible track record for getting lost items back in a timely manner - or at all.

Recently I left some merchandise on an attraction in the ride pouch - immediately went back and attraction CM basically said “just report it to lost and found” - the cm was nice but not helpful.

Didn’t get it back…. Just rebought the $30 item.

I think it’s a case by case basis, from what I’ve seen from YouTubers it can vary from nothing, a warning, a trespass, or an arrest.

I think the intention and the guests attitude after being confronted by security is the biggest factor in which option they pick.

Well no one can get along 5 minutes without their cell phone. The rider must have panicked and went into rescue mode. It's no excuse for his actions but I'm sure that's what happened. When the ride stopped a CM should have seen the issue on camera and immediately been on the scene.
A totally drenched guest leaving the ride area should stand out and security should have been nearby by the time the ride stopped to pick him up.

Well, at least someone filmed it...

My family is pretty much right behind where the camera person was. I was on right (ok starboard) side.

What that does not show is that he was all the way in (and under) the water just prior to that clip. None of us had phones or cameras out, since it was about our 100th time though this attraction, or else I'm sure one of us would have recorded it as well.

I would assume it would depend on the reason as to why you're doing what you're doing? I think there's a difference between somebody who decides that they're going to jump onto the land to steal some fruit or act the fool in front of their friends and somebody who retrieves a dropped item. They're both probably as equally dangerous as one another, however one is a result of dropping something and bad decision making whilst the other is a conscious decision to do something disruptive purely for your own entertainment and gain.

Likewise if you drink yourself stupid all day and then think that it's a good idea to expose yourself to the photo pass cameras on a ride, again you'll probably get less sympathy than stupidly leave a ride vehicle to retrieve a lost hat etc.

A few years back my wife was struck in the face by another guests backpack as he was messing around with his friend and he spun around quickly in the Haunted Mansion. I immediately spoke to him saying "Hey watch what you're doing" and his response was to laugh in my face. As we left the stretching room he pushed me against a wall and then squeezed into the crowd ahead. I was raging all ride and when I got off I spoke to the CM at exit who quietly dropped character and asked me to wait near the exit and not to say anything to the person if I saw them. As they'd gone ahead of me that was impossible. About 2 mins later about 4 people turned up to ask me if I was alright and apologised for what had happened (even though it wasn't their fault). They offered me the chance to go with them to a security office somewhere and make a formal complaint including a description of what the people looked like and said that they could then attempt to find them in the park.

I explained that we were flying home the following day back to the UK and would it take a long time to do this as it was very unlikely that they would be able to catch them. The lady in fairness was very honest and admitted that yes it could take a while and she appreciated that it wasn't a pleasant way of spending your last day but said they could sort out some fast passes to make up for time lost and had several ways of trying to locate the people. In the end we declined the offer as we didn't want to ruin the day further but they said if we changed our mind that we could approach a CM at any stage that day and explain what had happened to start up the process. I was actually surprised at how keen they seemed to want to do something about this considering the challenge it would be finding them but it showed that they don't just sit there doing as little as they can all day.
