They are years away from the Door Coaster from opening.

The Door Coaster building is far enough from the MV3D theater that they could have waited to do any work in Grand Avenue. And any work that's happening now is simply "slow playing" for optics because they just wanted to close MV3D as soon as possible to avoid paying for operating expenses.

I'll be clear with my expectations and what I would consider a win for my POV:

1) The area has to be a hazardous zone in the near future. Let's say before Q4. (I admit I don't know how long it will take for them do the pre-stuff - that's clearly happening now FWIW - why don't you put some predictions out there? You think it will sit dormant for how long??!)
2) MV3D theater opens BEFORE Monster Door coaster is finished.

I'll eat crow if neither happen.

Nothing significant has happened in that space. Removing props and assets is not significant project work.

Let's presume that the Monsters Door Coaster opens in 2028.

Why don't they just start removing props and assets in 18 months then?

I think it makes sense to shut down the area and start on the whole build instead of doing it in sections.

If AK wasn't so devoid of attractions id bet that dinosaur would be down too.

They have been super careful about capacity loss at AK because of it. Zootopia will be up before Dinosaur goes down.

Not sure we can know definitely the "why" - they could have left it open like they are with dinosaur but obviously don't feel the need for capacity in DHS as much with the two new shows (which is more expense than what was Muppets) vs AK.

I am sure it does save some operational expense but also would think revenue from Mama Melrose and Pizzarizzo would have ore than offset that

I suspect they just found this easier to close it all and work on it all at once. At some point would have had to reroute the exit from Muppet Vision as so close to Studio 1 store and even just where expansion are construction will happen

I do get people are sad it closed, I am one of them, but it was going to happen at some point, it had a nice send off, and now the transformation is started and definitely think better to see that progress vs it just sitting unused

Because it’s closed. They aren’t needed there anymore. Tables, chairs, benches, umbrellas, etc will be salvaged, repurposed, and reused where possible. Signs, statues, props will be claimed by various departments to be salvaged or archived. Why leave them there when the area is closed and they aren’t needed any longer.

Again. This and other work will start because it can. Not because it needs to. They certainly don’t want to just leave it sit for a year and make it obvious it all closed for no reason.

So how much of the announced construction gets axed when the tariffs hit?

TACO. But yes, they will have an effect, especially on Villains. You could probably also find my posts explaining that Monsters and AK would probably not be effected.

Not sure what your point is. Obviously I was wrong about the show being retired so soon. But it wasn’t because of the views of the barges.
