DHS Monster Inc Land Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

I think it’s worthwhile to watch that space. I’m sure you thought Miss Piggy would still sitting in the fountain too. There is movement there.
That is not an indication of construction or project work starting. That’s simply internal teams like those from the archives and other departments taking items to archive, preserve or salvage. That is happening now because the area is now closed, not because work is about to start.

Nobody ever said that.

But they are going to take 3 years to do 10 months worth of work.
I mean that’s cop out, we know Disney takes a long time to do stuff.

They closed the land. Let’s see if there is reason why.

I will gladly eat crow if nothing happens back there. You guys won’t though, you’ll just move the goalpost.

“They didn’t need to” is the goalpost moving already.

How? That’s exactly what we’ve been saying all along.

They didnt need to close it this early. They choose to close it this early to reallocate operating expenses.

There is no reason they couldn’t have worked on the e ticket for the next year or so and then closed Muppets to convert the courtyard. Just like they are doing with Dinoland.

So if their goal is truly to wait it out and not work on the land, why have they already started cutting down trees, ripping up flowerbeds, and breaking apart tile? While we know that they’re going to have to work slowly to match the time of the door coaster, I think it’s completely okay to be excited about the pace of construction and that they have actually started something.

I'll be clear with my expectations and what I would consider a win for my POV:

1) The area has to be a hazardous zone in the near future. Let's say before Q4. (I admit I don't know how long it will take for them do the pre-stuff - that's clearly happening now FWIW - why don't you put some predictions out there? You think it will sit dormant for how long??!)
2) MV3D theater opens BEFORE Monster Door coaster is finished.

I'll eat crow if neither happen.

If I'm right, I'm coming for @peter11435, @lazyboy97o and the rest of the you here.

As others have said, even if they do immediatly start work, there is no need to. There is no way the work that needs to be done on the courtyard area should take as long as the coaster construction.
I think it's naive to speak how we think Disney is operating with this timeline. We can make guesses, but what if the area just isn't safe when they start knocking things down?

Most of us thought RnR was going to close first (me included) before MV3D.

It doesn't take much construction expertise to know that rethemeing existing buildings shouldn't take as long as building an entirely new ride.

It would be perfectly safe, if they don't start knocking things down.

The courtyard area opening before the coaster in the only scenario where starting there first makes sense.

I realize you’re trying to be optimistic but it’s just not based on reality.

The area will be a “hazardous zone” soon because they will start work. But again… they don’t need to start work. They will start because the area is closed but they could have waited another year.

The theater will not open significantly before the e-ticket. The coaster project is much further along in the design and planning process.

The muppets closure timeline was based on operating expenses… not construction timelines. Construction starting in the courtyard soon does not dispute that.

Again… look towards Dinoland. The dinosaur conversion will take significantly less time than Encanto. Thus Dinorama closed over a year before Dinosaur will close.

I agree, let's see if they start knocking things down.

Removing flowers and trees is similar to the removal of props, it's an internal Disney department (horticultural services) collecting what they want to save.

They are going to slow played demo and building out the land is your argument when they could have waited for the door coaster to be finished?
