Huh? What the heck does that have to do with my post? I didn't talk about scope or a new building or anything like that - just glad they got started working 🤷

They are active at the site but @lazyboy97o thinks they closed MV3D to save paying Sweetums and his friends. Meanwhile Mama Melrose and PizzaRizzo (revenue streams) also shutdown.

No doubt he’s knowledgeable, but it was a silly take and still is.

The point is that they did not need to close muppets in order to begin construction on the Monsters coaster that is being built entirely in backstage areas. They could have kept muppets open until much further along in the process since the muppets theater conversion will take significantly less time than the new build behind it.

They are already doing work in the courtyard.

So?

I never said they weren’t. The fact that they are is irrelevant to the point being made. What ever they do in the courtyard could be done in significantly less time than building an entire massive show building, ride system, and all of the installation, programming, and testing that will entail.

And removing items to be archived, salvaged, and hoarded is not exactly “work.”

They shut down the site and they are active at the site. That’s enough information for me to know they have a plan here.

You’re just intentionally missing the point. And again… what work? Removing props to be archived or salvaged is not actually being “active at the site.” They are going to hurry up to do nothing in the courtyard area while the major project moves along behind it.

Do you see how over at Animal Kingdom they closed dinorama and are actively working on site prep for Encanto. All while the Boneyard and Dinosaur continue to operate.

It’s not pretty clear that they didn’t close it to save on operating costs. And Disney’s internal team grabbing stuff to hold onto then it is even less tied to the actual work.

The world’s busiest theme park has less dining capacity today than it did in 1993 when visitation was much lower. They whole business model has become so twisted and contorted that they have no problem keeping revenue generating places closed. This is something Disney has and continues to do. What’s silly is pretending it would not happen again.

Having a plan doesn’t mean it is expeditious. I can plan to do the dishes over an entire day but it doesn’t actually take that long.

The Magic Kingdom is the busiest theme park in the world with guests often unable to find tables to dine. And yet they can’t be bothered to open Tomorrowland Terrace or Tortuga Tavern (both revenue generating)

Is it possible they closed it because they have a plan and it’s going to be a construction zone soon? They are clearly prepping the area. This is not rocket science. How much money do you think it costs Disney to run MV3D per day?

No. It’s not rocket science which is why it’s surprising that you’re not understanding.

Sure they have plan. But no matter what their plan is for the courtyard it will not take as much time as the e ticket behind it unless the pace is intentionally slowed to meet the time line of that e ticket.

They are clearly shifting operating expenses from muppets to the two new offerings in the park.

Closing muppets a year earlier than necessary would save millions of dollars. Really.

And what if they open up the theater show before the door coaster?

What if demoing Stage 1 building makes it an unsafe area to have guests nearby?

The schedule is the schedule but I’ll admit I was surprised to see this area close before the gravity box was in. At a guess, they are just pulling off the bandaid given the (unexpected) blowback toward removing MV3D. Personally, I would have converted RnRC to the Muppet version before closing MV3D. But that’s not the schedule they went with. Perhaps they think we will forget about MV3D over the next year and not compare the Muppet coaster to this? No idea. I don’t think they could have handled MV3D’s removal any more poorly than they did. They clearly think Mermaid and Villains adequately replace this area. They added that nasty pizza next to RnRC for those who miss PizzeRizzo…

There are no plans to do that. Planning for the coaster is further along than the theater.

There’s no need to demolish the Stage 1 building this early in the project. The Stage 1 building is being removed for improved crowd flow. It is not an obstacle preventing or delaying any other part of this project.
