News Disney modifies monthly payment structure for Annual Passes

Going to catch flak for this one but if you can't pay for a pass outright without dipping into savings then you should probably not be purchasing an annual pass. I guess its 0% so there is no downside of doing it, but they would only bother offering it if there is a decent market of people who wouldn't but unless it was on a payment plan which is crazy to me.
Disagree. Do whatever works.

Disney wants to make it appear to be as affordable as possible. Contrary to the prevailing narrative, there are many AP's that spend considerably in the parks and through ADR in the parks and at resorts.

In order to capitalize on that, they need you to be in their ecosystem. Then they can market to you. And it's amazing the way the mind will rationalize things.

Queue Donnie and the “freeloading annual passholders ruining the (rather empty) parks” narrative 🤫

Our last visit - which was for a grand total of four hours - included a $600 bar tab before tip.

I am such a freeloader.

At 0%, why not pay minimum and keep your money in an interest bearing account earning you money.

Yep…why spend your own money when someone will give you theirs for free?

My FIL would always pay cash at the dealership…until his accountant got a hold of him and said “you idiot…it’s 0.0%! What the hell are you doing?”

How much are you going to earn on $1K in a year?

This, to me, is way overthinking it.

(And that is why I have a 75% chance of being homeless if I live long enough to retire.)
I think the point is that paying for an annual pass with no interest over 12 months…as long as you MAKE the payments…isn’t the reckless riverboat style gambling it’s sometimes portrayed as…

Maybe $30-$40, But what if you were buying passes for 4 or 5 people.... I know it's not much but it adds up. Hell, I wont pass up a penny on the ground and but see people who drop quarters and don't want to be bothers to pick them up.

Edit to add Like @Sirwalterraleigh said, if someone is offering you to use their money for free, take it!

I can be very cheap, but I will splurge when it’s worth it, regardless of consequences. (I don’t consider paying interest to be a major consequence.)

Life is short and I’m old(er.) 😆

The reality is I typically get my AP’s free with Chase Disney Visa points.

I’m sure I’ve paid some interest at times earning those points.

It all works out.

But I wouldn’t bother or shame anyone for putting their trip on a cc. Some here IMO really overreact to that.

For sure. I was just responding to the person who was saying if you cant afford or dont have the money in savings...
I'm simply stating it could be people are just being smart with their money.
