DHS What should they do with Animation Courtyard?

They are actively relocating peoples offices from around the park to the Feature Animation building right now so whatever the plan is it appears that it doesn’t involve that building or the parking garage.
I don’t know. If it’s just now reaching a “direction,” it’s not obvious that office location decisions would be affected for the time being.

The new CFTOD Comprehensive plan allows for significantly more office space to be built within the district. In fact, my understanding is that Disney had basically reached the limit of allowed office space within the district.

If you really think Disney will re-open HOP in this political climate then I would give Cast Members there even more public safety training. I think we are more likely to see Figment restored to exactly like it was on opening day 1983 than that frankly. Heck, It might be smarter from a business standpoint to rebuild Horizons than re-open HOP.

I really think it's going to re-open. The window from July 4 to end of November is what's happend since 2000.

Didn't realize the "Muppets potentially replacing Villains" thing was anything more than armchair wishing so that's very exciting. Wish they had announced it so there was more chance of it happening but I'll hold out hope. @lentesta Not sure if you're at liberty to say or even know, but curious to find out if that was MV3D to replace Villains or something Muppets in general.

Animation Courtyard dying immediately and potential road for Muppets to return makes the MV3D death a little easier to swallow.

The idea I heard (twice, from two separate people) was Electric Mayhem in concert. It would address families with children who are to small to ride the re-themed RnRC, and those unfamiliar with the modern Muppets.

You know, it could be kind of cool if you are taking the limo to the concert in the coaster, then you can walk over and see the actual show you were on your way to.

If they are to continue this same level of investment, it would make sense to have another big project ready to start construction in the next couple of years, to meet the 1 new expansion per year they seem to be going for

2024-2027: Tropical Americas
2025-2028: Monstropolis
2025-2029: Piston Peak
2026-2030: Villains Land
2027-2031: Animation Courtyard

Please don't be Simpsons, please don't be Simpsons, please don't be Simpsons...

Zootopia, fine. Incredibles, great. Marvel, assuming they've worked something out with Universal, okay. Just please not the Simpsons...
Would I get my Disney parks fan card revoked if I said I would really really really like it to be the Simpsons?

I’m a big fan of the show, and I think Springfield is neat and a fun theme park environment with fun food and locations, and would like to see it live on!

Not at all! I personally love what Universal did with it but would be interesting to see Disney utilize it’s more popular IPs in a new and fresh way.

Besides, as an acquired property it would fit right in to a park that has been almost all acquired/licensed property since it’s inception (MGM, CBS Letterman videos and Twilight Zone, Star Tours and Indiana Jones via Lucasfilm license, TSL after Pixar acquisition, SWGE after Pixar acquisition, RNRC license for Aerosmith, Muppets via Henson acquisition, Monsters Land after Pixar acquisition, Bluey via licensing arrangement).

Simpsons would fit in there as well as any other properties. Heck, even Zootopia would be one of the few properties showcased there developed organically post-Disney acquisition.

Moana for AL was going to be announced at D23 2024 but was supposedly pulled at the last minute. I think there is a strong possibility that the AC replacement will be Moana. Considering how big the IP is and Iger's desire to get it into the parks in a big way, they probably wanted to make it a full fledged land.
I can't find the posts... but I believe insiders were saying the MK, DHS, and AK were "fighting" over what IPs were going in what park.

MK: ended up getting Cars and Villains but almost got Coco, Encanto, and Moana
AK: ended up with Encanto, Indy, and zootopia, but almost got Moana (and zootpia in a different place). Apparently Coco was also a possibility for tropical Americas

DHS was apparently up for Cars and/or Villains... but clearly didn't get either of those. It got Monsters Inc. However, it looks like Moana and Coco were both almost planned for MK and AK. We also have a Coco ride coming to DCA... so costs could be shared.

So my bet is either Moana splash mountain ride... or Coco Land, complete with the DCA boat ride and flight of the alebrije

Here is a crude paint drawing showing FOP main show building (Flight of the alebrije), WDW pirates (boat ride), and the bone yard (a playground).

This would be a great addition to DHS because it would.
1) add a new LLSP for DHS to make money on
2) add a 0 height family high capacity ride
3) add a playground
4) add a new visual area that is different than any other area of the park.

Chance of this happening? 1%... seems too expensive haha.

I think Moana or Coco. Either would be a great change up and have a more lush adventureland feel to it

Moana seems like it would fit well in Animal Kingdom (do Kakamora count as animals?) for an Polynesia/Oceania area. I wonder how Disney would make it fit in the concrete jungle of Hollywood Studios.

I wonder if they went with Moana if it would be a pure Moana land or if they might do a princess land a la Fantasy Springs. I think it likely something superhero will go in at some point (maybe Echolake/Indy), so having something more girl-oriented might be good.

I just want the land to have some greenery and a dark ride. That is my main desire and I think the main need for the park. So if it is Princess with a Splash/Moana ride and a Tangled boat/dark ride, or Coco with a FoP ride and a dark ride, I would be happy with it.

At this point DHS is just the "IP Park" so you can justify pretty much anything.
