MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

I always assumed it would have been Cars Land largely as it exists because it would have been of an attempt to sucker the Japanese into covering some of the [then] insane costs of the land and its rides. It wasn’t that long after that they tried the same thing with Pandora.

Me too. I bring it up because it’s a strange coincidence; but it being an R&D pass off of the DCA project is also what I recall.

Yes I know “everything is totally different in California” but the riverboat is the featured icon of Frontierland out here.

Have Disney released any better plans of how the actual track for this attraction will layout? Looking at that latest cartoon of the area, it's a little hard to figure out how the portions of the track will all fit together.

The cartoon in particular should not be taken as indicative of what the ride route will look like. Elements like the show building are purposely omitted, and scale and placement are exaggerated.

I remember reading once that John Lasseter came up with the plot for Cars 2, then realized said plot required no one believe Mater because he regularly makes stuff up and Mater doesn't actually make anything up in the entire original movie, so instead of throwing away that stupid idea that led to a crappy movie he decided to make a bunch of shorts to force that character trait onto him.

"This is dumb" "No no, see, I wrote here that it's not dumb" ended up being prophetic for future uses of the Cars franchise, as we can see.
I personally think if Lasseter were still around, He would have vetoed paving over the River and TSI.

Carsland in person is jaw dropping... The scale, the layers of design and story telling... One of the best theme park lands they have ever built...
Carsland is, without the slightest doubt, the best single IP land Disney ever built. It’s tied with or just very, very slightly behind (depending on how I’m feeling that day) Diagon and Wizard Paris. It’s a masterpiece.

This post risks being too positive, so I’ll add that Carsland is SO good it makes Disney’s other single IP lands, particularly TSL, Avengers, and SWL, look much worse in contrast.

I dunno, I liked Cars 2 and there's at least 5 of us in the world that liked it 😅

Another mad point about this project - if you have a severely limited space and you want to build a ride that maximizes the use of that space and hides the limitations, the FIRST thing you do is make it an INDOOR ride, which gives you a lot more control. Making this an outdoor ride is deeply foolish.

A potential problem I can see with this is that it’s an outdoor off-road race.
I guess they’d hafta’ try to make it a dark ride similar to the nighttime portions of the Baja 1,000…?! 🤔
