well the design may be taken from wood carvings, but I am sure these will not actually be wood at all...I thought initially the Carousel was going to have a Coco theme, but now it just seems like something ese entirely... I guess just "tropical Americas" themed wood carvings carousel....

Genie and Genie+ really soured me on our last trip. (the first time our trip required those things)
In the past, I only took my phone out to take pictures and text family members if we split up.
With Genie, I was up at day break trying to snag rides every morning.
As well as walking through the parks with my head down staring at my phone.
I hate that, as I never do that anywhere else.
Bring back the days of no screens. Just run across the park to get a piece of paper that will tell you to come back later and do that all day long!!

About the carousel, I heard that the animal characters will be woodcarvings made from a local villager. This story makes it make more sense than before at least.
This was confirmed at D23 last year:
" Additionally, a woodcarver has created a giant working carousel featuring his favorite animals from Disney stories. It’s a new take on a classic attraction that young families are going to love."
"As the story goes, a woodcarver from Pueblo Esperanza transformed a horse stable into a carousel for the town residents. The woodcarver crafted some of his favorite animals from Disney stories for guests to ride on, and the first one that was made by Disney was on display at the Imagineering pavilion for the 2024 D23 Expo" https://blogmickey.com/2024/08/deta...-tropical-americas-at-disneys-animal-kingdom/
and they showed one of the ride vehicles on the expo floor

I missed these details when it got announced. I actually like the style they're going with this.

I have no issue with the carousel being IP, some of the most iconic Disney spinners are as well (Dumbo and Teacups)

I would just have preferred the carousel be entirely themed to Coco / alebrijes

But I have made peace with that, and I'm at least excited for the wood carving approach they took, and I'm sure it'll look beautiful when it's done

Change of topic. I really hope they do something special with this land at night. I could really see them doing interesting projection mapping on the Indy and Encanto buildings. I also really want a drone show and more just to get AK open at night, I've never gotten to experience Pandora at that time :(
