MK All-New Nighttime Parade Disney Starlight Set to Debut at Magic Kingdom in 2025

It allows for better guest flow after the last parade. There will be serious park ops problems after the first parade and after the fireworks when people are trying to leave.
They could run it from Frontierland to Main Street for the first parade then reverse it as DL does. But maybe there isn't room to turn the floats around behind MS. So easier for them to use the hidden driveway behind Adventureland before the first and second parades to start at MS each time.

They could physically do that. But it would be an operational nightmare for guest flow.

Disneyland only does that because they have no choice

Not really. The SOP for post-fireworks is that parade viewers stay on the sidewalk and exiting guests use the street. Historically, not many guests leave after the first parade, but before the fireworks, and those that do could use the taped walkways or, if they're in the hub, the east bypass.

Will flow be more constricted than presently? Sure. But it's nothing that serious on most nights.

Maybe its a false memory, but I seem to remember MSEP and Spectro doing this. First parade stepped off from Frontierland, second stepped off from Main St.

No
With the parade showtimes now released, Disney has shifted the closing time at Magic Kingdom from 10pm to 11pm starting July 20 through August 2.
That seems to indicate that soft openings of this parade may not happen if the park isn't staying open past 10pm until opening night. Perhaps only previews for cast members after park close?

They could but they have no real reason to and I think it is likely much easier to just have the floats go directly backstage in the same order from the Frontierland exit to the Main St entrance. And as others have mentioned, running Main St to Frontierland is the far better option when it comes to the parade at the end of the day.

Even though it was (very) implied from the just-announced showtimes, no one physically said that HEA would be at 10pm yet! ;)

Although I'm not sure what time HEA was already scheduled for on those nights, maybe the typical 9:20pm showtime currently?

Happily Ever After moves to 10pm starting July 6 - here's a post from April:

The first 10pm showtime for Happily Ever After looks to be July 6.

In case anyone was wondering, it looks like Starlight will be scheduled along with FOF which only goes to Aug 2nd ATM. So every month, we'll get Starlight Times and Hours extended.

Wonder why HEA, Lum. and F! is and a continuous Schedule post and everything else isn't?

I’m shocked they’re actually going to run the parade twice a night instead of just once. Good job Disney!
Yes, the Shows are "New"(2017 & 2025)but This is the MK most of us Grew up with and Know they can Do!

If the DreamCast parade would be an operational nightmare if it went from Frontierland to Main Street, then why isn't FoF and the Christmas and Halloween parades an operational nightmare since they step off in Frontierland?

As for Parties.. Guests are more likely to stay in MK for Shows and 180 Fireworks....

Do we really know if the Monorail, Bus, Ferry Stations enjoy the Mass that happens after FOF???

I understand the City Hall Start. The Mass heading for Transportation should be slower than even HEA...

Not really. They did it that way for years in the 80s and 90s.
Yes really.

I can’t speak for the 80’s but for most of the 90’s the parade definitely started on Main Street. If they did originally start in Frontierland they changed because of the previously mentioned operational challenges. There’s very real crowd flow reasons why they have started night parades on Main Street for many many years.
