Japan Trip Booked - Your Recommendations or Advice?

Yes go for it and get an early slot. We did the fantasyland classics before doing it with DPA (having it booked when we entered the park) at 9:30 and had 2 other reservations for later in the day (one more DPA after using the first and the vacation package one)

Just briefly my two cents:

Journey is great, but also not that great. I wouldn't base my entire itinerary around it.

TDS is the park every fan wants and needs to see, but don't underestimate TDL. Amazing castle park. Do try to squeeze in as much of a second day as you can. I spend more time at TDL than TDS.

If you are still considering Nara, personally I think it well worth a day trip, or half day trip. It'll likely be easy to get too as well from your Osaka/Kyoto base. Don't wear your best shoes, you can't avoid the deer droppings.

Not too worry, my expectations are in check, but I really need to ride it, bucket list ride for me. Our dates are all settled, and we will be there when it has reopened!

We are still sticking to 2 days TDS, and 1 day TDL, but hoping to throw in an evening ticket for after we check in to our hotel.

I'm sorry if this contradicts what The Empress Lilly just said but I've visited Tokyo last month and Journey was my favourite attraction at DisneySea, honestly one of my favourite rides of all time, so I'd certainly make sure you ride it. I rope dropped it on my first day (with Happy Entry) bought a Premier Access for it during the day and then managed to ride it twice late in the evening. I think about half an hour wait 45 minutes before the park closed and then once again just before park close.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere in the thread but the park will close queues before park close to ensure the ride is close to being empty for park close. So in theory if Tower of Terror had a 60 minute wait at 2000 as it often did the queue would close around 2000 not 2100.

JTTCOTE isn’t a bad ride by any remote stretch of the imagination, but it seems like a 1st draft of the dozen or so major scale and scope rides they’ve done since.

It’s a bit short and missing a third act. 20k leagues and Sindbad are sometimes undersold by comparison.

On my own internal list I’ve dropped it to 19th and I’m pretty sure it was at one time within the top 3.

Is this in order or no particular order? Wow Peter Pan Tokyo. Maybe the Avengers ride WILL be cool. And two of the Fantasy Springs rides made the list. Any possibility of recency bias there? Do other POTC’s not make the list because they re really not in the Top 10 or is it because putting more than one would be redundant?

Judging by this list we’re in for a treat at DCA getting a version of Shanghai POTC and Peter Pan TDS.

I tend to like newer things so maybe a bit recency. Definitely less nostalgic than the average poster. Though the two new TDS things are the only thing I don’t have great multi-visit reassessment of.

It’s ordered, classic pirates is 12 just below Forbidden Journey for me (gotta finally acknowledge Universal and I have yet to go to epic).

As per Pan, I think I’m super high on it compared to average and honestly probably not as high on Frozen. I already liked Universal’s Spiderman a lot, but twice that ride (Pan) could have ended and then does not. I just think it’s wonderfully paced and such a joy; which is hard to say if Avengers gets the memo.

Shanghai Pirates can definitely be improved upon, hence my Avatar excitement.

Yeah Avengers does seem like it has the possibility of being more hectic. The ride system seems nice for a Neverland/ Peter Pan ride.

I guess on that same thread, is there a QSR we should not miss? I want to do Hungry Bear for sure, for the curry.

I've read that Ristorante Di Canaletto is very good and it's a beautiful restaurant, though we did not eat there.

I found TDL curry (and Japanese curry in general) to be a little sweet for my tastes. I think I prefer Indian curry to Japanese. It wasn't bad, but I wouldn't seek it out.

If I were in TDS, I'd focus on the QS in Fantasy Springs. Those look quite good to me. In TDL we really liked Le Taverne de Gaston and the Queen of Hearts is very popular.

For quick serve I’d also try grandma sarah in critter country (great food and you basically eat in splash mountain). In Disney sea I love volcania (steam punk chinese)

Ikspari has some good choices as well - there is a great okonomiyaki place on the top floor

Just curious why the move from Shinjuku to Disney. Isn't about an hour train away or less? Or just wanting to be in the Disney bubble for a few days which certainly is understandable. I was just curious the distance and hassle between Shinjuku and TDL.

Also to add, if in Shinjuku and have time, there is a government building with a free observation deck. I think it's also the same building that runs a free nighttime projection show, also free.
If you can escape your significant other, Shinjuku has some streets you may be interested in. ;) Just make sure they serve both locals and foreign travelers, as some don't with the latter.
Don't underestimate a simple stroll in Japanese gardens. Can be the most relaxing and affordable part of your entire trip, especially in autumn.
