Right … my mind forgot this was a boat ride like Shanghai Pirates. I bet this ride will have a drop, and it’ll be Coco that’s the tamer, leisurely float.

I actually now bet Coco doesn’t get a drop, and this one does.
I think you're right on the money here. I never expected a drop on Coco, since the ride will be a clone (trackwise) of Gran Fiesta Tour (mark my words). Has anyone compared the size of the show building for GFT with the space available here?

Lol. The below is the post you responded to.

“I think they may be trying to use…”

“This assumption is…”

“Essentially I just think..”

“The tea laves tell me…”

Do me a favor man. Don’t respond to my posts anymore. Or if you’d like go ahead and do so but I will be ignoring the ones that are non sense.
And it was this part that I was actually responding to originally -

"the fact that they said a portion of the “backlot” would survive"

Because in fact they didn't actually say that in that announcement, its an assumption on your part. Now maybe the way you worded that you didn't mean that as an actual fact said by Disney. But that is why I wanted it clarified. Because again we have readers who don't comb over every post made by Disney and would assume that because we do that Disney did in fact confirm that when they didn't. Words matter, so I want to make sure its clear that Disney hasn't really confirmed what is actually happening with the rest of the backlot. As this is how unconfirmed rumors start, and where the "bus driver" gets their info.

Again I expect you'd do the same to me if the positions were reversed, and again I'm sure you have lots of times over the years.

Yes, and almost the entire Mexico Pavilion can fit in the space we assume will be allocated to Coco, so certainly GFT can fit in that space.

And where is the confirmation in that that the rest of the backlot is surviving as you claim as a fact?

Im done. Seriously. Get lost
Look you want to make an assumption over Disney’s intention fine. But let’s be clear about that and not call it a fact. Because all they said was a portion would be used for Avatar, they never said what would happen with the rest. Maybe it survives, maybe it doesn’t. But they don’t actually confirm one way or another on it in that blog post. That is all I’m saying, so no need to get mad. You like to hold me to account for what I say also, and I appreciate it when you do.

I just want you to know that I did not read the above post. I replied just to say this.

That quote says portion, which is a synonym for part, and if only a part is getting converted one can assume the other part is not. They would not have used that extra word if they planned to convert all of it.
That is an assumption though not a confirmation or fact, which is the point. Because for all we know there are other plans yet revealed where the rest of the backlot is used for other things, we don’t know. The fact that they didn’t outright state what will happen with the rest can’t be considered as confirmation of anything, ie it’s not a fact because it’s not stated.

Pretty sure they've stated that the Animation Academy and Disney Jr are staying, which are part of the Hollywood Backlot area. That would still leave everything to the north of the street, and would fit into the definition of "part".

Anyway, I'm assuming the initial concept art that lined up almost perfectly with most of the backlot is going to remain the same, and the Monorail will just weave through it now. It doesn't have to be too complicated.

DCA has 4 confirmed attractions coming, that’s the most pending attractions then Disney has announced for one park since DHS, when you combine the Eastern Gateway stuff I think it’s fair to say there probably isn’t anything happening at DCA for some time after this.

I’m not sure they stated that but this is a logical assumption. Of course, the Animation Building and Disney Junior aren’t actually part of the backlot but that’s another issue. The fact that everyone (including Disney perhaps) is using Hollywoodland and the Backlot interchangeably which is not accurate and can be confusing.

Maybe, maybe not. But none of that means that other construction outside of attractions can’t happen like new shops or restaurants sometime in the near future.

We’re literally quibbling over a few words here. I just wouldn’t put much faith into those words as equaling a concrete plan that we can infer as a 100% “fact”.

I think it’s safe to assume that we’ll see in about 9 month the real meaning of that post, if it’s the entire “backlot” that gets closed or only a portion of it. :)

Nobody is hanging onto semantics more than you. There is a difference between saying something is a fact and stating “the fact that Disney said….” Disney could say anything. They said they were building a hotel where ESPN Zone is. Me referring to Disney’s comment (accurately I might add) was one example of 4 that I provided to explain my opinion. You’re in that bored mood huh?

Maybe you didn’t intend it to come across as saying it was a “fact”, but it read that way to me which is why I asked for clarification. Also we’re all playing semantics here, as we’re all dissecting a few words from a blog post about a silly Disney project that has no real meaning since we don’t have access to the actual project documents.

And you must be bored too since you’ve dug in your heels here for something that has no real impact on either of our lives.
