"We have Flow at home"

This sounds like a different movie, just like how many Pixar movies turned out different from animated movies made by other studios that questioned if Pixar was copying them. In the same way people claimed that they saw similarities between Rio and Newt. Or Flushed Away and Ratatouille. Or Antz and A Bug’s Life. Or Shrek and Monsters Inc (and also Onward). Or Avatar and Hoppers. Or Zootopia and Elemental. Or Shark Tale and Finding Nemo. Or The Book of Life and Coco. Or Osmosis Jones and Inside Out. Or The Iron Giant and Wall-E.

Some of those came out before Pixar's version.
Jim Henson's A Christmas Toy has the same basic plot as Toy Story but came out years before.

Newt was legitimately cancelled because they recognized the Rio similarities and Antz exists because Jeffrey Katzenberg actually asked John Lasseter what his post-Toy Story plans were and rushed a clone to market.

Should be easy to figure out how this one fits into the Pixar theory.

I think the point being that there are many movies in the market that are similar in nature without being a direct ripoff, for example Avatar is compared to Pocahontas or Dances with Wolves due to striking similarities in the basic story, doesn't mean they aren't still unique enough to be different from each other, ie both can exist.

A hand painted style animation, eh? I’m all for it!🤩 I’m glad Pixar is jumping to the hybrid wagon. It may not be hand drawn, but it sounds promising! Now, hopefully if WDAS had another hybrid film in the works. Hopefully better than Wish, even though I still love the movie more than Strange World.

I heard about that in a YouTube analysis video on the production of Meet the Robinsons and how it was the good ending version of The Black Cauldron for Disney Animation.

Apparently, Disney chose MTR over Fraidy Cat and Gnomeo and Juliet when they were testing animatics for which film to green-light for production for a future theatrical release.
