Just some pure speculation here but seeing the concept art for Piston Peak and the reference to the wheelderness got me wondering if Disney might add an artistic touch of Piston Peak to Lakeshore Lodge. I think a hint of cars would tie in nicely to the campground.
Journey of Water would of been an excellent addition to the Polynesian Village Oasis and so would Piston Peak Wheelderness over at Wilderness Lodge/Lakeshore Lodge. 😉

I am not understanding a tie in between the Cars movie franchise and Fort Wilderness... One celebrates it's natural setting and the other is about anthropomorphic living vehicles.... I really dislike the Ideas of the Cars franchise being any part of those three resorts.... Save that for All Star and Art Of Animation resorts...

Journey Of Water would have been a lovely kiddie pool area for the new Island Tower...for sure... but Piston Peak and cars land should never touch Fort Wilderness or Wilderness Lodge.... It just feels wrong....well kind of like the Incredibles wall stickers in the Contemporary.... I don't think the Deluxe resorts need to have cartoon crap splashed all over the place...it doesn't actually do anything to make the resort nicer...just makes it look cheap...and at those prices, they should be upgrading the quality of those resorts, not worrying about how to add IP tie in.

agree just look at the horrible Contemporary rooms, yet the first floor lobby is really nice,,,no correlation in that project whatsoever. I guess the concourse level will never see an update either, but the rooms being the worst. Incredibles daycare, that should not be for what they are charging.

Oh goodness. Please don’t give them any more crazy ideas. They have enough of their own 😂

Don’t the resorts tie in to the corresponding Mk lands, so piston peak would fit in Frontierland in that case too.
Piston Peak will never really fit the theme of Frontierland from the Classic Disney park perspective. Frontierland was traditionally designed to emulate The Old Western Frontier....not car-part shaped mountains and automobiles of current day...that just happent to be in an area they are trying to make look like a national park...but one where anthropomorphic automobile-people live. There is a whole park dedicated to "movies" where Car-People would fit fine...just down the road....
Make the road Rally and new area based on the old short films from the 50s...featuring Goofy and the Fab 5... Let the National Parks be represented without auto parts...

Ah, something you and I definitely agree on. The retheme of the Contemporary lobby area is beautiful, and timeless. That should have carried over into the rooms. Instead…the rooms are horrible. In no world should a deluxe resort, at that price point, be covered in cartoon decals. That room redo for that level of resort is laughable.

And yes, Lakeshore hopefully will not get that type of treatment. It doesn’t need it. Of course, this is where you and I disagree lol. I love the new Poly tower. There is IP there, but more subtle. I can’t give you an answer as to why, but I seem to love the resorts that you trash for lack of theme. Our home resort is Riviera (and VGF). We can’t get enough of it. I have a feeling Lakeshore Lodge will be similar to the approach they took with RR and the new Poly.

I wouldn't say I trash the resorts for lack of theme, but I am critical, yes. Theme is what made the Disney resorts popular...Theme is what made the parks popular. It seems current management wants to wipe it all away and build standard everyday hotels you can find everywhere in the US. I do not applaud that move... It is a step away from the thing Disney was known and loved for.
Island Tower could have easily included elements of design that would have made it feel like part of the resort but they chose to just make a modern building...and then slap on some little bits of theming. The tower is jarring and looks completely out of place...Style, form, colors... The lobby is nice, the rooms look modern and fresh and much like you could find in any modern resort hotel. The pool area is non-descript, and the kiddie pool Moana Splash Pad belongs at All Star or Pop Century. The pool should have had a water feature of some sort...
I just stayed at the Poly this past week. I love the resort... Just wish they had spent the time and money to make the new building feel more a part of the overall area... They managed to do that fine at the Grand Floridian...

Do you stay DVC at the Poly or in the regular resort rooms? I haven’t stayed in a Poly resort room since I can remember when. Weren’t the resort rooms heavily themed to Moana a few years ago?

I think it was just a wall graphic for Moana... We stayed at the Bungalows this time... The Moana tie-in was a water color illustration in the living room Murphy bed. It was subtle enough to not feel like a toddler's bedroom. Overall I think the Bungalows are my favorite of the DVC resorts... I like the convenience of the Poly.
We did the Riviera the first year of operation... Me thought the Villa was beautiful and gigantic. Very nicely decorated...but completely devoid of that Disney difference. Yes there is a mosaic...which is lovely...the rest could be any Marriott hotel. Having the Skyliner station right there was nice, but the skyliner went down frequesntly while we were there....and we felt very cut off from the rest of what WDW has to offer. I think if the resort felt more like a classic Disney resort, with actual design integration of the theme... If it actually more felt like you were on the French or Italian Riviera, we would have appreciated it more....and probably would stay there more often.

Seeing as how you can afford bungalows you must have a decent amount of points. I assume that you’ve stayed at Aulani?

Yeah. As Boca said it’s a graphic, but it’s a BIG graphic. And artwork. I think the Poly DVC rooms do a better job than the regular rooms of having a few Disney touches without going overboard.

To me Cars would tie in more to Lakeshore Lodge than Fort Wilderness. Just the atmosphere.

What about the atmosphere of Lakeshore Lodge suggests a tie-in to Pixar Cars franchise? I have seen nothing that had anything to do with Cars so far... Because it looks like a Fairfield Inn, therefore looks like a motel that any car would be parked at? I am not understanding the connection.....
