I like this clip. Not so sure how excited I am about Elio…
We can only hope that some Aliens can make their way back to WDW and take over with some plan to make it all right.
They must have some great attractions in their world using anti gravity and super speed capability.

Clip is cute. I just got bad vibes of Disney not realizing they're making fun of the loss of a WDW attraction. Bad timing if anything.

I wasn’t responding negatively to your post. I agree it is odd showing the disappearance of something when they are in the process of taking beloved things away from us. Yeah Dis has a track record of doing without thinking.

I think you’re reading too much into this. Rides get retired. It happens at every amusement park. It’s not like somebody died.
It's a real shame he wasn't around when Harmonius was there. Would have loved to to see the Stargate and floating tacos go back to where they came a lot sooner than they did. I also wonder if he can return rides? Horizons please, Elio.

But SE is not retired or being replaced. Dis is in the midst of removing things that we love and now showing SE being taken away isn’t a good picture especially at this time. They could have come up with a better promo than this. JohnD was not overreacting.
Yes, that was my point. They thought they were being clever. Except it seemed tone deaf given the removal of MV3D and the upcoming ROA, TSI, and Liberty Belle.

This movie hasn't had much ads, the tie in kids meal toy at Mcd's is pointless, Doubt they will even have an M&G character for Elio if the movie doesn't do good in theaters since it's not about Toys, Monsters, Cars or inside someone's head..

I don’t know that I can really call it tone deaf when 99% of the people who’re gonna watch that clip don’t really care that those things are going. I would wager a portion of them don’t even know.
It’s not just Park Enthusiasts seeing Disney’s social media posts. The resorts have millions of followers on social media, and most of them are only following because it’s Walt Disney World and they know the name and maybe went on a trip there once.
It’d only be tone deaf if they were playing to us, but they aren’t. They’re playing to the GP who will go “haha aliens took the Disney golf ball”.

I don’t think the hat should be considered an icon. I will grant you the earful tower but that was an exception because it was in a part of the park that was all to easy to demolish and had two easy replacement icons in the tower of terror and the Chinese theatre. I don’t think there’s anything that could serve as a replacement icon for spaceship earth. But in any case I don’t have any ill will towards the original poster but this gives the vibes of a wdw pro thumbnail trying to drum up controversy for the sake of it.

I don't think so. But maybe they would inject some lovely IP into Spaceship Earth. How about the blowback from that?
