I have a feeling the rockwork and the area is a lot smaller than we originally thought. It wouldn't be hard to imagine this around the size of Sleeping Beauty's Castle.
oh yeah- that’s 100% going to be a dream forced perspective effect. i wouldn’t even be surprised if it was the size of Belle’s castle at MK. all those rings just need to be positioned and distanced correctly to look massive from the ground level.

I’m guessing those rings will be just large enough to block the Hyperion building. The layout of the concept art matches almost perfectly with the existing layout. They’ll reuse the animation building on the right for dining/shopping/etc, turn the backlot stage on the left into that pond area, and the two bridges will replace the two walking paths, leading to the boat ride replacing Monsters Inc (with a facade we haven’t seen yet that blocks the monorail).

Those rings are hiding the show building in the backlot/ transpo hub. Not the Hyperion.

That the show building will be in the backlot/ current transpo hub? That’s where Disney said the expansion was going.
Oh yeah that’s for sure where the show building is going, but I just think those rings may be in front of the Hyperion, not the ride show building and monorail track. We’ll find out soon enough.

That's not the orientation though. Nor the right area. It's taking up part of the backlog area, not Hollywood Blvd. Those rings are the backdrop oriented above the show building at Monsters Inc and back.

The previous overview has a distinct split with a pair of narrow underpasses. Now knowing the location, I assume this is where the monorail will be artfully concealed.

You know, it’s possible that the layout could be like this and other than foliage, they do nothing much to hide the monorail tracks. It will be as odd as the monorail running through the middle of the Grand Californian, or around the Matterhorn. But as long as it’s not much of an obstruction of the view of the Pandorian rock work it’s possible they’ll just say “deal with it, you’re in a theme park.”

I know this doesn’t fit with the galaxy’s edge level of obsessive immersion. But maybe they’ve backed off on that a bit for this “experience” (as opposed to land).

I don’t think this would really bother me as long as it’s integrated properly. Seeing the monorail wouldn’t bother me but the support columns would.

The monorail and Avatar boats will provide some much needed kinetic energy to the part of the park. Especially considering that they got rid of the Red Car and Avengers Campus has none at least until the Kuka arm ride opens.

If each pillar was decorated as either a concrete RDA remnant or hidden with trees, it won’t really take away from anything. And when the monorail comes through it will be perceived as a positive - “Hey, monorail!”

Plus, I don’t really like this notion of giving the monorail guests nothing but the backside of rock work to look at. Let them get a really great view of this new Pandora area.

Right. As long as it just not the plain fully exposed monorail supports it’s fine. Good point on the guests riding the monorail.

That hyper immersive stuff is overrated when it comes at the expense of fun, kinetic energy etc.. Now, would I want to see the monorail in Adventureland or anywhere on the West Side of Disneyland? No but it doesn’t bother me in the world of Avatar considering all the technology showcased in those films.

You know. I think you’re right. I don’t see why they need to hide the monorail. It could easily be worked into the story if needed.
