So a thought.....

Prior to this weeks announcement we thought that the Pixar Promenade could be the entrance for Coco. We now know it'll be going in the location of the parade gate just to the left Broadway Pizza.

What if.... Pixar Promenade will now be the exit instead. I mean it makes sense instead of trying to reroute guests back out through the parade gate again. Plus its already a "building" so they can build a gift shop right into it, and if needed take over the midway games just to the right as you exit.

Seems right to me. There is no way they could thread the exit through the entrance way.

I was mostly referencing his last crack at Tomorrowland. Not exactly seen highly.

Oh haha. When I think of Baxter it usually isn’t the first thing that usually comes to mind. I give him a pass on that considering his resume but I really wish they’d get that Astro Orbitor out of the hub and unclog the TL entrance. I would take this even if they can’t move it elsewhere. I’d rather have no Astro Orbitor than where it’s currently located.

He should be given a pass. The Tomorrowland makeover was a mess because of the executives slashing the project cost.
I do prefer Tony Baxter over the new imagineers. He had a vision, creativity. And can know how to be disciplined.

Without him, the treehouse would have been gone. The submarine would have stayed emptied longer.

Tony Baxter definitely had great vision. Indiana Jones sadly was his last triumph but once new management took around that time, budgets were slashed and Tony’s ideas were just too extravagant and costly for Disney’s taste. Bob Iger never really used Tony Baxter as a creative lead after he came in except for smaller projects. I think Tony was kinda done and swiftly retired at 65 and left the company that he adored because it was no longer the same. A lot of the imagineers during Walt’s era retired well after the age of retirement because they loved the job, they had more creative freedom and they loved coming to work. I think Tony would probably still be with the company today if it was as he remembered it.

I like that idea. It’s a good way of keeping the entrance from being crowded if it’s only one way.

I know there’s lots of talk of replacing the parade gates, but don’t these also count as emergency vehicle access doors? I know they need doors big enough for vehicles. Not even only for emergency vehicles but also for maintenance access etc. I presume if this attraction does go there they will need to replace this gate somewhere nearby, also presumably keeping access for a parade.

Weather it be in/near the ride queue, or the Santa Cecilia village area, they need to squeeze in a spot for that Mission Tortilla video.

I wonder if they could make use of multiple stories, to create a larger / longer attraction. Would be great to see this have levels, some drops, just like pirates.
I’m really hoping for a gentle drop like pirates. Otherwise not having one will kill my fascination of this attraction. LOL

I have no documentation on this, but I think there are some operational/guest services best practices that would prohibit that idea.

Whenever any group splits up and says “We’re going on this ride, meet us after”, the other half of the group would naturally assume the exit is near the entrance. Even if it doesn’t confuse most people, putting the exit at Promenade could cause a few panicked parents to complain at guest services every day.

Plus, I don’t know how the stroller situation is over there, but a lot of people park their stuff as close to a ride’s entrance as possible. When they exit, you don’t really want to send them on a long sprint back near the entrance just to get their stroller.

There are some examples of attractions that stretch the distance between entrance and exit somewhat (ROTR, Pirates, Mansion, Space Mt) but there’s not a whole other emotional whirlwind ride in the middle. You know your bearings and can tell you aren’t far from where you started.

Its only rides that have the load/unload at the same location that end up exiting right next to the entrance, for obvious reasons. With few exceptions that I can think of, at least at DLR, most large attractions with separate load/unload exit in completely separate locations. So I don't think there would be a "guideline" here on the matter, its all dependent on the ride design.

Also operations/guest services wouldn't be part of the conversation when the attraction is being designed, at least that I'm aware. So I don't think they have a say in the matter.

FEA's unload practically dumps you in another country.
