Universal's food is still pretty bad

Really? That's the worst place at USF IME.
Maybe cause my expectations were so low. I use to eat at Landry's and Finnigan's a lot when I was a passholder. Those were ok. The quick service burgers and chicken options are depressing, even kids won't touch them. Mythos is a ruby tuesdays with some greek flare.

We generally eat at the Potter venues, with Finnegans as our second place (first for the bar)

We usually eat at the Potter restaurants too. They have a good selection and their food is not as expensive as other sit down venues. We like Luigi's Pizza for a quick lunch too.

I have the opposite experience. Overall, I think Universal has the better food and much more interesting QS options. I didn't love Mel's Dine-In but everything else I ate was good.

Vivo's was outstanding in my mind. Mythos was one of my favourite, especially the octopus. The pizza tater tots I had at Green Eggs and Ham was another favourite. Cowfish is yummy. Our food court at Dockside blew any food court we experienced at WDW out of the water. The HP food was lovely. Toothsome was delicious.

Now, I'm not a chicken finger and burger kind of person. So if you are comparing those, maybe you are right.

There is food at WDW that I love but I find I really have to seek it out.

I also thought that we spent less money on food. But we tend to go for TS and WDW TS is definitely more expensive.

It’s really good, just really expensive for the portions you get. I got hungry and wished I had a car to leave the park, because there really is almost nothing worthwhile in the $5-14 range.

The other thing that makes things seem expensive or not is where you come from. There is nowhere I'm eating nowadays in Canada that doesn't cost at least $15 for an entree.

Had good food on my recent visit (2 days Uni parks / 2 days EPIC), and meals at Helios Pool Bar, Rooftop, and Taverna.
At USF did Minions cafe which was quick and easy and took the dietary restrictions perfectly (all restaurants were great with it). It was really solid quick service food!

Everything was really, really good (Blue Dragoon, Tavern, Cafe Sirene, Taverna/Pool Bar/Rooftop Bar) . Epic / Helios food is just SO overpriced, but still delish nonetheless.

Forgot to respond to this, but I live in San Francisco where we have a similar situation. I have a pretty high income and even then I was kinda scoffing at some of Epic’s pricing. Pizza Moon was 100% worth though.

It gets to the point it's not the money but the value isn't there. I've had $400 meals on the beach at an awarded bistro and it was well worth it but in a theme park setting it would be outrageous

On the whole, the food at Universal is almost inedible. There are, of course, a few exceptions to that, but overall it’s horrendous. Disney has some really poor food as well, but dining is yet another area where Uni simply does not stack up to WDW.

Horrendous is really overblown, when was your last visit? Are you talking about Epic, or just USF?
