No I always thought that was far fetched land you’d have to include much of the area surrounding Goofys to even make it somewhat feasible.
Agreed it would require a bunch of the surrounding area, but....

We know the Coco entrance is going to the left of Boardwalk Pizza, so if we assume for a second that Boardwalk Pizza will be used for the bridge to DLF and the Simba lot expansion. Then the remaining area with Paradise Gardens and Goofy's is just large enough for a Mystic Manor sized ride.

To be fair I don’t think Bugs Land “backlash” came until AFTER people saw what it was replaced with.
Oh for that, yeah I can’t really comment. I was not as deep into the theme park twitter sphere then. That was also before Twitter Blue where engagement bait made you money so I was more willing to take what people said at face value than I am now lmao

I can’t believe that I of all people am OK with this, but I’m seeing people online who are fighting tooth and nail about a dark ride they never spoke of until yesterday.
I love Monsters Inc the movie, definitely one of the best Pixar films but the ride is just mediocre. The Metropolis scene is the only impressive scene imo but a lot of the figures are super lifeless and the ride leaves something to be desired. This is not to say that the ride is bad because if it was somewhere else in the land, it would be fine. It’s just in such a horrendous looking area with a cheap exterior and getting rid of this area and building something entirely new is for the greater good. Some ppl are acting like this is Spalsh Mountain all over again but there is no comparison. The ride was never truly popular and the only reason it’s an hour wait a lot of the time is because the slow loading process and Genie Plus.

Monsters Inc is nothing more of a quick band aid fix.

Personally I'd be fine with bulldozing/reimagining this entire corner, but I understand that might be an unpopular opinion.

Me too. Honestly I think it'd be an interesting challenge for WDI.
First, you need an access road still behind there. Second, you have restrooms, and the closest other restrooms are between Grizzly and Mermaid, and at San Fransokyo. Third, that's a lot of restaurant capacity, and without it, you don't have any large capacity quick service location in the entire west side of the park. And fourth, assuming the parade gate is going away for Coco, that leaves somewhere in this area to be the only possible relocation if you want the parade to take the same route (maybe it could go through Cars Land instead, but I'm not sure how feasible that is). What I could see is Pizza and Pasta turns Mexican with a Coco plaza, a parade gate goes between Pizza and Pasta and Garden Grill. I drew what feasibly could be done with the area in my own opinion. I don't know what Disney is actually cooking up though

Monsters Inc is my personal favorite film of all time (which may sound odd considering film is what I do semi-professionally and I'm a hardcore cinephile but I just love it okay?!), so the ride existing period was special to me. And I rode it about a dozen times when I finally got to visit DLR. But I also had to be honest with myself about it's faults.

With the whole land coming to DHS, I can't be too upset about this. If that weren't coming, then I would be more upset since i'd be losing my only American parks rep for the film. But my trade off is a whole amazing land in Florida and what looks to be a really amazing new land for DCA.

I'm satisfied with this.

This attraction is a boat ride using the same ride system as Shanghai Disneyland’s Pirates. That isn’t really a thrill ride.

Also, you don’t need to enjoy the IP to enjoy the ride or the land. Many people don’t love Avatar but absolutely adore the land at DAK. It’s gorgeous and this promises to be as well.
I'd be thrilled if Disney made a U.S.-based E-ticket attraction I could actually ride instead of constant motion sickness-mobiles. I'm not sure they've done so since before I was born. Unless you count Frozen Ever After as an E-Ticket?

I didn't love AvatarLand. Thought it and the boat ride were utterly boring. Then again, I find all of DAK boring except Festival of the Lion King and a few of the entertainment acts and character meets.

That said, Disney is now calling Avatar in DCA a "destination", not an attraction. The new concept art looks down-scaled. I'm still expecting Journey of Water, Inspired by Avatar at this point over Disney actually adding two boat rides (assuming Coco is one) to the park within a few years.

Perhaps DCA doesn't need as much for children, when Disneyland is next door? The park stands to differentiate itself, especially when the majority visiting likely are AP's, our out of towners with a park hopper. Most of us treat it like one giant park anyway.
I think some people put too much stock in catering to a very small age group. Most kids reach 4 feet at like 6 to 8 years old. They so quickly go from toddlers who nap in a stroller and meet characters to kids who wish they were tall enough for the more thrilling rides. Disney is in almost zero danger of losing families with very young kids, but they’re in increasing competition for slightly older kids and beyond, so it makes sense to mostly add thrilling-ish rides especially because they’re easier to advertise anyway.

There’s already a solid amount for little kids between Little Mermaid, Toy Story Mania, Web Slingers, the Ferris wheel, 2 Cars rides, and 6 other pier rides.

Not much has changed. They just exaggerated how far they were in the development process, which really didn’t even start until March 2023. It was always a bit surprising how much they had to show off 18 months later.

Still a Shanghai Boat ride, it still goes outdoors, still a restaurant and still Hyperion. 😊

Also - this will be an all ages accessible ride with no height restriction.

And when they listen to my armchair imagineering and bring Mickey to the Hyperion for Big Band Beat and use Philharmagic for a second Avatar attraction 😁
